    Default PS2 DVD Player BUZZ

I know there is another PS2 vs Xbox DVD player topic right now but I wanted to discuss this seperately...

I use my PS2 as my primary DVD player. In the past I have noticed a small buzzing sound coming from my speakers when there is little or no sound in a particular scene of a movie. Instead of dead silence, I hear a slight humming, or buzz. This is NOT my speakers as I have tried it on many different home theatre setups.

Last weekend I was watching the Matrix Revolutions at home and the scene where Neo is in the subway station made the buzz REALLY show. Since that scene has many moments of utter silence with no bass.

Someone else told me that they have noticed this issue as well. Does this happen with most or all PS2s? I have tried using different RCA cables and that doesnt fix it. Anyone got any info on this? This totally draws back on th PS2 DVD player and I an very much on the verge of buying a seperate dvd player now.

Sounds like an interference issue to me. (no pun intended)

With most CRT televisions, when there's quite a bit of white on the screen, you might get a bit of buzzing. I got better results when I had the audio going directly an amp/pre-amp setup (so I can EQ out most of the noise). It gets worse if you're using RF. Just about all speakers hiss when they're turned up enough.

If your sound is coming through your TV, you might want to drop your sharpness and brightness a tad. If it's still bad, drop the treble a little bit, too.
