Default Question for Saturn AND DC collectors

OK, got a question here. There's two versions of Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 out there, Saturn import, and Dreamcast.

Which, of the two, works out as the better version? DC is cheaper, but if the Saturn somehow tops the DC version I'd prefer to shell the extra out for a Saturn copy. Anyone play both games on both systems.

Also, are there any other games you can think of that had DC and Saturn versions that the Saturn wins out on?

To answer this question, I'll simply say that I'm holding out for an affordable copy of the Saturn version. It's tasty.

I've got both, and I like the Saturn version better. There's just something about it that feels better the the DC release. Maybe it's just the controller, but I swear the Saturn port is faster and features smoother control. The graphics seem to be a bit cleaner, too.

Twinkle Star Sprites for the Saturn has some cool bonus extras not included in the DC variant, but the DC has extra modes, so it just depends on if you're a fan of art galleries and such... then it's Saturn.

Saturn one (with the 4meg ram expansion) is great. Plus you get the better controller...not to say I didnt like the DC version (it does load quicker!).

Yeah, if nothing else, then the Saturn version come out tops thanks to having THE finest 2D fighting pad ever (the later Japanese-style pad, rather than the bulky original one).

Does the Saturn version have the "Dramatic Battle" mode where you could play 3-players 2 on 1 that was in the DC version??

The Saturn Ram-cart bundle likely looks much better on the shelf than the DC version too.

Man, that's a tough call. I tend to think that the Saturn version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 plays just a touch more smoothly than its Dreamcast counterpart. Just try to do Fei Long's Spinning Flame Kick on the Dreamcast... it's a nightmare!

However, the Dreamcast version does have its own handy features, like the (kind of silly) Internet mode and English dialogue. I'm happy with the Dreamcast version, but if I had the opportunity I'd love to own the Saturn game as well.

Saturn, as its a port of the arcade version
whereas DC is the port of the PSX which is a "port" of the arcade

I thought the Saturn did have it but I haven't playted it in years. Also I think the Saturn version is much better mainly cause of the control pad. I got the Saturn version sealed for $25.00.

You make it sound like the Playstation version was a terrible game. It's not. It's actually extremely close to the Saturn version, albeit without the speedy load times and arcade-perfect animation. The dramatic battles in the World Tour modes have been altered as well, but they're still a lot of fun (even if your fighting one character and his fifteen stunt doubles).

But anyway, back to the topic. It should be noted that it was difficult to pull off the Spinning Fire Kick on the Dreamcast version of Alpha 3, even with a Saturn controller convertor. So the lackluster Dreamcast joypads weren't solely to blame for the less precise control in that version of Street Fighter Alpha 3.

When it comes to arcade ports, saturn and DC are both great....But because of the controler i lean twords the saturn version.

the controller itself makes the saturn better. there are a few differences, but they are in parts of the games that i could care less about.

Saturn one is way better, although all home ports of A3 suck, the saturn one was the least shitty. It's just a pain in the ass to get a copy of. Dreamcast one sucks though...sprite sizes are messed up, move inputs are changed, timing on OTGs and custom combos is different, hitboxes are different, etc.

I can't remember where I got it from but the place had about 5 or 6 of them. I picked up one for myself and another that I sold on Ebay.
