Default Ever Accidentally Bid On or Order The Wrong Game? I Did!

Today, I got a game I was a winning bidder on at Ebay...no wonder I got such a good deal on it! In my mind, I was looking for and bidding on WWE SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain...I'd lost a couple auctions and when I bid on this one (which I won) I guess I wasn't paying attention. The one I won was WWE SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth! It's still fun but doesn't quite feature all the features that it's sequel (Here Comes The Pain) does. It only cost me $5.50 plus shipping and it is still a fun game so I think I'll keep it. It'll give me my wrestling fix for now. Maybe I'll play it until the other is cut in price down to $20 or so...

I bid 60 pound instead of 60 pence on some animal crossing cards, luckily the auction didn't go too high, but still was lot more than I wanted to pay

I did that on my first eBay auction WAYYYYY back in the day. I was trying to get a autographed picture for a friend, and I wasnt completely confident on the proxy bid thing. Yeah I kept bidding myself up. Fortunately I was outbid with about an hour to go, I was sure glad that I didnt dump the 80sumptin that I had accidently pushed it up to.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

A while back I was bidding on a seller's PC-Engine games. He had like 20 auctions going on that time. I was bidding on 10 of them. All of the auctions looked alike with respect with the exception of course of the pictures and item name. I didn't realize until after the auction ended that one of the auctions was only for the jewel case and instructions. Needless to say, I paid over $20 for it. I guess other bidders must have done the same thing because the fav was so high. I never imagined a jewel case and instructions for 1943 Kai: The Battle of Midway would go for that much. Well, if you want to help me recoup my costs, I am finally selling it on ebay. Here is the link.

One night, I bid on a copy of 32X DOOM complete in box.

    I won it.

The next morning in a hurry for work, I checked my Watch list, saw a copy of 32X DOOM I had watched. Bid on it.

Came home from work and found I won it.

I bought two copies of 32X DOOM. Forgot I bought the other one. Bought a second. Oops.

I thought I was bidding on a copy of Warsong only to realize I had confused it with Gemfire. I won that auction...

I was only $8 but man, was I pissed.

I did the exact same thing Jasoco did. I thought one of my bids on a copy of Splatterhouse 2 didn't go through so I tried it again but it was a different auction. I ended up winning both of them.

On the upside I got them both boxed with manual for less than $10 apeice with shipping.

We've probably all done something like that. I ordered a DVD online...forgot I had ordered it and then bought the same one in a regular store before the first arrived. Luckily, it was one of those cheap $6 music video DVDs. I gave the extra to a friend.

Yes, I once accidently purchased a second copy of "troddlers" for SNES. It wasnt until I had paid, the item was shipped, and i was about to place it on its alphebetical spot on my game shelf that i saw a second copy sitting infront of me. well, only five bucks.

I've bid on the wrong item once or twice... Here's a trick I've done so I don't end up screwing myself....

Say you honestly screwed up, and offer to pay the seller's listing, paypal, and final value fee's, and give an extra $1-$2 for the inconvenience.
It's worked for me 3 times, I lose $2-$5 flat out, but it's better than losing $100 on the wrong item.

Way back in the day (feels like 70's or so) I put a proxy bid of $75 on Alien Soldier. Or so I though. Next day I checked Item's I'm Winning just to realise I was bidding on Alien Syndrome. OOPS!

Let's just say I was pretty confident with my win. Luckily there were few interested in this great, great game.

I've NEVER had that happen. I'm surprised to hear so many stories like that honestly.

Well, aren't you just Mr. Canadian High-and-mighty up there in your Canada with your alien avatar and your memory that never forgets and stuff. :P

I'm still laughing after buying both Dooms. I seriously forgot in my sleep that I BINed that other copy. I still have the second. Both are complete.

    I've got other similar examples...

Atari 5200--I accidentally bid about $100 on that...not sure how I did that. I won it but luckily didn't get stuck with a too-outrageous price. And it's a nice solid machine.

I have two copies of two different Saturn games, Hexen and Duke Nukem 3D. I think the reason I got Hexen twice is I'd bought it previously but then it was a game in a package deal I got later. Regarding Duke Nukem 3D, I bid on one and then found another in nicer condition so I bid on it, too...never thinking I'd be the winner of both.

I think I still have both copies so e-mail me your address and I'll send you one. You can make me an offer or propose a trade, whatever's cool. If you have a list of things you have to offer in trade, that would be okay...or just reimburse me for the shipping and maybe a little extra for the game itself. I'm flexible...

    Been there.

Bid on a Bangai-O for DC, and the owner never made with the game.

So I bid on another. Both arrived on the same day. D'OH

I'm glad I didn't leave negative feedback for the first seller.
