    Default Epoch Cassette Vision.

I came across this classic console from 1981 the other day while shopping in my local used hardware heaven. I'm just wondering how much it's actually worth and if it's pretty common or not. I ask this since I've never seen one before nor find any in dept info on the net about it.

The one I have is fully boxed with ALL original paper work including the guarantee card. The unit it's self has a few marks on it that look like soldering melted plastic It's not that bad though. The games are in great shape with the carts being scratch free and nice conditioned inserts. Just that the outer plastic cases are scratched. The games I have are Galaxian, Pakpak Monster and Yosaku.

Please take a look at my shots. I hope some one can help me out on this system.

Hi, I think that the Epoch Cassette Vision is fairly common in Japan but not too many have made it out of japan. I have one and a few games for it. The one you have looks like it is very nice. A friend of mine sold on on ebay about a year go for $75 or so I think. It was in the box but not that nice. Mine also has melt marks on it. I'm pretty sure it is from the rubber on the RF cable attacking the plastic. If you ever want to sell those games or find any more let me know.
    Thanks, y-bot

    Just another weird Japanese console.

Yeah, I don't know a ton about 'em, but they don't hold value like some items, but it's a kick ass find if you're in the US. Perhaps one of very few to get imported privately. As a general rule, import games for import systems cost you $8-$25, depending on the title. Y-bot has a pretty accurate assessment, IMHO, about the value of the set. I collect these kinds of weird systems.

The Epoch relative (also sold by Yeno in France) is called the super cassette vision, and is nicely styled and compact, with subsequent improvement in technology. I need to play it more, but it's closer to a Colecovision technology wise, whereas the Cassettevision is closer to an Odyssey or 2600.

I've always wanted to catalog these systems comprehensively. Perhaps some day...
