    Default Classic Dumpster Diving

i have seen many good finds from you guys on newer stuff. Wahtever... did anyone dumpster dive in the good 'ol 80's-early 90's? I just think it would be way more cool to go to a dumpster and find tons of old nintendo powers, and nes promo boxes and such...damn new ps2 and shit...

If so, what kind of great classic stuff did you get? Stories please! pics too.

I used to work in the furniture dept. at a Value Village in Kelowna BC about 3 years ago. We had an actual dumpster in the back lot of the place, and one day we were ordered to clear a space for a truck. SO, we had to dump boxes and boxes of goods into the dumpster. Well, as me and my co-worker were dumping it, we found some old NES carts AND about 50-60 Nintendo Power trading cards. So anyways, I put them aside and "grabbed" them after work. Hehee. That was probably the highlight for me for dumpster diving.

I went dumpster diving in the 80's, but I wasn't looking for video game stuff back then. Those were my classic hacker/phreaker years. We were much more interested in passwords and manuals than game carts back then.

I use to Dumpster Dive back then..(My Uncle does it all now)

I've found basically similar type stuff like I get today(Uncle)...Gaming stuff from that time..(Just not as much)
I used to Dumpster Dive stores like Pier One because they used to trow out all kind of good non gaming stuff.

Lots of Gaming magazines that I do still have most of ...packed away..

I got a ticket while I was walking away from a dumpster (I don't remember the store)behind an electronics store.
The cop came back there and thought I was dumping..but the dumpster was empty.
The store owner had seen me before, and didn't care because I had spoken to him(Done business with)(nice guy)
But the cop was on an ego trip and kept trying to say I was dumping..With the owner of the store right there.
So he gave me a ticket for having a vehicle in an restricted area..(WTF) It was a Loading Zone..
