Default Cleaning DVD cases, boxes, and glossy manuals?

Tres part question here, although all of it is in the same vein. First, DVD style cases like Xbox, PS2, and GameCube games, as well as *surprising* DVDs. What's the best way to get smudges and stuff off them? Some of mine have collected an inordinate amount, especially games my friends play like Halo and Shattered Soldier. Know any good ways to remove these? I'm not I want to try the washcloth method until I hear it actually works, since water alone seems to just make things worse.

Also, glossy manuals and boxes. Same thing. Any good ways to get smudges off those? I imagine something with a light enough amount of moisture to not get through the shininess may work.

Thanks a bunch for anyone who can chime in.

Too lazy to probably ever finish up my older games, but collection funtime.

To clean DVD cases I take out everything from the case: Paper insert, Manual and disc. Apply Rubbing alcohol to stickers and dirt where needed and use cooking oil (vegtable, olive, peanut etc...) to clean nuetralize sticky reisdue. The oil works great for glossy manuals as well because it won't seep into the paper. Careful not get any inside the book though.

As for the DVDs themselves? I think rubbing alcohol's safe to use on the silver side. I know I've cleaned incredibly dirty loose PC disks before without causing any harm.

Backs? As in disks or cases?

I generally have little problem with stickers. I can even use my magic powers (...nails) to get them off shirnkwrap without tearing the wrap. And I mean the thin wrap like SNES. </brag about superpowers>

Thanks for the tips! Would most manuals be considered glossy unless they're the papery kind like a book or something? And what about boxes?

Most DVD manuals are glossy... in fact I think they all are. Paper would be like the cheap ass black and white genesis manuals. By boxes you mean like the GTA double pack thing? That would be glossy too.

Yeah, just like those, or things like SNES boxes. Again, thanks. I'll give that stuff a shot later.
