Default HELP! Rewiring NES/Gen/SNES Controllers to Famicom DB9

Hey I need some help pretty badly. I have a Famiclone with a DB9-style 9 pin plug. Same size as a MegaDrive/Genesis. The original controllers are TERRIBLE, and near unusable. So I'd like to rig up my NES, Genesis or SNES controller to it. Thing is, I have no clue what the wiring scheme is.

The wires coming out of the original controllers are: 1 Orange, 1 Yellow, 1 White, 1 Brown, 1 Blue.

How would I match these up with the wires in the varying other controllers? Thanks.

<sarcasm>What no red wire? Then I don't think it can be done. Sorry.</sarcasm>

Mods: Shouldn't this be in the tech forum?

Why not open up a Genny controller cord and see what's inside?

Because I cannot judge by color on that. I have no decent way to know which wires go to which switches, 5v, or Ground, etc.
