Default Ack! I fucked up my Gens

Not sure exactly HOW I did this, but somehow I managed to get GENs to not start any ROM I load. Probably happened while working on it to get the Sega CD emulation working.

One thing I noticed is that there's a pointer for a Genesis BIOS file. I don't seem to have that on my machine, and if it was there before I don't know how I killed it. Anyone got this?

The only other change that I can see was to the "IPS Patch" directory. I didn't think this was critical, but maybe?

    Anyone have some helpful advice?

I believe IPS Patcher is for coverting a PAL rom to NTSC. I remember doing this to MEga Man Wiley Wars so I could play it on my DC.

As for the Genesis bios, you got me on that one. I don't think I've ever seen one, but I'll check my machine when I get home.

I'd say just re-load the damn thing and start from scratch. That's what I usually do.

That's what I usually do too - in fact, that's what I did! But it's still not working. That's what makes me think some file I need is missing, like the BIOS.

Incidentally, the file might be called "genesis.bin". When I go to the BIOS pointer menu that's the file name it's looking for by default.

Default I think I know what you did...

First off, you don't need the genesis.bin file at all, so don't worry about that. When you open a rom, and you get the open dialog box...at the bottom of the box where it says what type of files to open, does it say "all files"? Change it to Sega Genesis roms or 32x roms. I noticed when I changed this to open all files, my roms would no longer play. Hope that helps.

    Default Btw...

The IPS patch area is for ips files. An ips file can be a traner or perhaps a translation patch. Back in the old days when copiers were used, you can actually merge an ips file with your dumped rom to create a traner menu (unlimited lives..etc) to come up before the game starts.

@Zektor: THAT did the trick! , how simple and yet... it's a BUG!

NOTE also that GENs works best with the 32x file type highlighted when opening a ROM. That works for both Genesis and 32x so you don't have to mess around with swapping between them.

    Back to Blackthorne!
