appears to be the final version of the game, with no obvious differences or bugs
Maybe this is the reason? I know I really don't care about protos that aren't different from the final release.

It could also just be a supply and demand drop the same way imports dropped in price a couple years ago. Once someone who only want one or two protos for the sake of having them gets that many it's one more person who will never pay much attention to NES protos much less bid on any of them again.

i posted this same thing on nesworld. i think it just went so cheap because some people were broke, and others just forgot to bid on it.

200 for a famicom proto? ouch.

That proto last year would have bought 200-300 easy.

Its not a case of one or two bidders "missing it" it is a case of NES protos slowly coming down to reasonable levels.

It's because I decided not to bid on it. Because if I did, it would have easily eached $200.

I know you argued about this with me earlier, buyatari, but I concur. If DreamTR bid, it would have easily hit $200.

Yet Jason did not bid on every single NES prototype in the history of eBay and last year you would be damned to find one ANY ONE for less than 200. Most in fact were closer to 300.

Tis a good thing I think. 300 for a proto with no label and no known changes is dumb.

And I think your point that Jason hasn't bid on any NES protos in a while more or less proves what I'm saying. Jason has, for a long time now, pretty much grabbed every NES proto he can, causing lots of little NES collectors to be jealous and, well, insane with spending.

I'm with Li Wang here. Once the competition with Jason stopped, and all the little guys got one or two overpriced protos and realized they spent $200-300 on a circuit board and EPROMs, they stopped buying. However, were Jason to bid, there would still be that fierce competition to outbid him. It sounds strange, but people just hate the poor guy.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is with collecting proto's.

I collect NES because it's fun to do, and it's a way for me to keep in touch with my childhood. But I collect games that I played (or could have easily played).

Going to the extreme of collecting protos.. well.. that's just wrong.. might as well start collecting everything that's NES..

Used mario toilet seat cover anyone? It's been "prototyped" by me!

    I've been wanting a NES proto for forever...and when they're $50 I'll get one :P .

I'm still positive that I'll find one in the wild at a local garage sale.

Everyone hates me! This is nothing new. Surprisingly, I did not have this beta on ebay either, but I just decided not to bid.
It's been that way for quite some time, but the last one that was up, I bid $250, and was STILL outbid.

People assume If I don't bid, that I have the proto.

Sometimes it works out better in the end for me as a bargaining tool if that person decides to ge rid of the damned thing.

gamergary, yes I do, but you need to get some money together and be serious, we went through this discussion before.

Dreamtr doesn't always bid, and besides that, i didn't bid on these last proto's as well. And i normally do. But i am broke and don't think they r that interesting to be honest.

Still a clue why everbody hates dreamtr btw...
