Default Replacement 72-pin connectors and Game Genies

I replaced the 72-pin connector in my NES and i have tried 3 different Game Genies in it and they will not work with it at all. All i get is a blue or a grey screen and nothing happens.

Before i fixed the NES i had to use the game genie to get the games to work so i know it works and i know the connector works because the games work on the first try.

Anyone know what could be causing the Game Genie to not work on my fixed NES?

    "New" connector eh?

I can't tell you which of the 72 connector contacts are consistently not functioning, but I can assure you one or more of them are not and never will make contact.

    Sorry.

I replaced the connector currently in my NES with another one i had sitting around and now my GG works in my NES.

I guess i did have one of those "BAD" connectors

One in four everyone. One in four.

A person could have a faulty one and not know it too. That 'dead' cart they have may not really be dead too.

    It really sucks.
