    Default Question about super nintendos

ok, I have 2 SNES systems. They both look like the regular version but one feels heavier and when you turn the power on there is a lock to hold games in place. The other one dosen't have the lock. My friend said he thought the heavier one might be an advanced version or something. Since you people are more knowledgable about this stuff, I figured you'd know.

I must say, I haven't heard of this before. Does it actually say "Lock"?

I coulda sworn there was a version of the SNES that you put the cart in and there was sliding switch that you pushed toward the cart that was in place of the eject button, but i could be wrong

1st revision SNES's were heavier (due to the sound module being a separate daughtercard), and had a eject lock as part of the 'on' switch. (on= locked, off = open)

2nd revision had everything on the motherboard (lighter), and no lock.

Both of the above look the same from the ouitside, not to be confused with the SNES2.

Both yellow just as bad as any other SNES.... I just finished cleaning the guts out on one of each of these things (I found some godawful grunge hidden inside of those systems, but both were yellowed pretty badly.... cept one came a little cleaner than the other one (I think it had some sever smoke stains on it..... but now its a nice putrid yellow color... so its all good)

Some of them have a lock to keep from putting in games while the power is "on." They are pretty common. The first one I got, I almost broke it open because it was stuck and I could not figure out what the problem was. That was annoying! I have 5 or 10 SNES laying around the house from purchasing big lots of games and systems for a good price so I have seen a lot of these things. I would sell the one with the lock.
