    Default Favorite game hacks!

Typically, hacked games are just immature crudely made graphics hacks, but some are really well done. I personally think, that if you're gonna hack a game, you should do it well. The best hacks change a large percentage of the in-game graphics, and sometimes even change the sounds or levels.

    What are your favorite hacks?

    Here's a couple of mine: http://raccoonlad.topcities.com/petshop.html

I liked the Fat Albert hack someone did of Fast Food for the 2600, that one was quite good...

That's easy! It's Wilfred Brimley Battle all the way for me! The star of Cocoon fights for truth, justice, freedom, and of course, oatmeal and diabetic supplies in this hilarious hack of River City Ransom. You can find it (and a lot of crappier hacks) at www.imockery.com.

Funny. When I go there it says that the domain is for sale.

I don't think that I should probably go much into my own hacks About anyone can go to the Atari 2600 hacks section at digitalpress and see those (except for the one that doesn't seem to be posted, yet). I do think, however, that Barry Laws Jr. did a good job on Battle for Alderaan. That was pretty much what I was thinking (he turned Star Strike into a game that resembles the trench run from Star Wars) every time I played Star Strike.

I'm surprised the infamous Somari (Sonic meets Mario), SNES Sonic, and Kart Fighter hacks weren't mentioned yet.

i dont have any idea if this is archived somewhere- but "(the simpsons) DOOM" was one of my favorites... if i remember right you are homer blowing away smither's, apu's, and barts (plus more) as you make your way through the doom levels. i think they also had audio samples of the characters when they attacked... that was the first hack ive played, and still my favorite

I really enjoyed The Legend of Zelda: Outlands by Challenge Games (http://www.cg-games.net/challenges/zeldac/). Tough and decent looking. I haven't checked their site in some time and I noticed they have new Zelda hacks. Something to check out.

I love the arcade/MAME hack of Mr. Do! called "Yankee Do!".

I won't spoil the premise if you haven't seen it but it's got nothing to do with the baseball Yankees... it's all about the USA, baby.

I almost forgot, there's a game supported by PacMame called "Crash" which appears to be a bootleg/hack of Pacman, that turns the game into a variation of Sega/Gremin's Head-on, or Exidy's Crash! It's worth checking out for a laugh.

@YoshiM, I've started playing Zelda Outlands actually! I'm short one key in the 1st dungeon though before fighting the boss. x_x

Somari and Kart Fighter aren't hacks as far as I'm aware.

Most of my favs are for the Atari 2600 like A Better Pacman, and the other arcade conversions like Asteroids DC (which makes the game more challenging), the Omega Race controller hack, and the hack to Galaxian that takes away the awful border.

For arcade I like "House Party", which was a funny graphic hack of House Party. The various vector hacks are nifty to look at too.

For NES.. I thought Nude Punchout was pretty funny as well.

This would definitely fall into the "immature" category, but I got a kick out of River City Pimps. Pretty much same as far as the NES counterpart in gameplay, but I got some laughs out f it.
