    Default SuperAuctions Schedule!

SuperAuctions has posted their Summer/Fall/Winter auction schedule. I have gone to many SuperAuctions events in the past ... sometimes you can get a good deal, sometimes you have to watch your back for fake bidding. Both of my Neo Geo cabinets have come from SuperAuctions events for less than $200 ... of course, I can't remember if that included the 10% buyers fee and the 3% credit card fee ...

Check out the schedule and see if there's an auction coming to a town near you. If you're planning on attending one, be sure to respond here and let us know! I'll be at the August 14th one in Texas for sure!

The first time they came to Oklahoma I got:

    Shinobi: $25
    Championship Street Fighter II: $25
    Mat Mania: $25

There's a reason they won't come back here ... now I've got CREDIT CARDS!

Ah, I always treat myself to a Halloween “outing” every year – usually to take in scary movies or generally goof off. And there will be an auction in Columbus on Oct. 24. Looks like I’m gonna have to visit with a pickup and a fistfull of cash that day.

No seriously, what is "fake bidding?"

I intend to go this year and would like to be fully educated before I start throwing money down the toilet

i would assume its people who travel with people who put the games up for auction and bid on them to drive up the price

I won't say it always happens, but I can say that everyone I've ever talked to who has attended a SuperAuctions event has confirmed similar experiences.

More than once, I've found myself being the only person bidding on a game, which is unethical and maybe illegal. For example, let's say there's a game I am wanting and I bid $100. The auctioneer will go "$125? YES!" and then come back to me for $150. The problem is, NO ONE said YES to $125! SuperAuctions also seems to be pretty lenient in allowing people to bid on their OWN games. So if you want at least $200 for a game, you can just keep bidding against sellers.

On several occasions I've stopped bidding on a game only to leave the auctioneer without a real bidder. Then they go, "who is the high bidder?" and then there isn't one, so then they try and sell it to you at the high price. If you say no, they auction it AGAIN. I've seen this many, many times. As long as you don't get crazy and bid through the roof and pay attention as to what's going on, you'll be okay.

I am going to the one in jersey. I don't know what the prices or are how many I am going to pick up so im bringing one of my dads company trucks. One with like enough room for like 3 machines. Throw some skids on the floor of it to.

So are these things still cheap as they were in previous years?

I'm considering this as well, though I don't know if It'd be something that I'd actually be able to pull off (no truck, money going towards mame cabinet/cobalt flux ddr pad). I'm not even particularly looking for any cabinets, I'd just like to go and then if I saw something I wanted for cheap, I'd go for it.

So you may or may not see me there!

I have to wait until December 4th until the next one comes to San Jose. I have heard that they rarely come with the keys and that they tend to sell damaged, dirty cabs. Is this true? I don't want to go to one to find out that 1/2 of the cabs look like they have been through a stampede. Thanks.

this is true....lots of the stuff is complete junk...but you can get busted cabs with working monitors and joysticks for $10 and have spare parts

they do have good stuff though, and you can get some great prices

it is not a waste of time...trust me....it is worth it

and, most dont have locks...but, who cares, they arent that much to replace the locks...and some do come with locks and keys....

check out my collection pics in my signature and go to the basement arcade folder to see my mario pinball machine and my vigilante arcade cab that i just got at the NJ super auctions.....they are in great condition and i got them super cheap....only $685 for the pin and $60 for the cab.

the only bad part is that you have to pay a 13% buyers fee and the local state tax on all purchases....but, it is worth it.....go, check it out, and see for yourself....i would go every month if i could.

They sell what people bring them to sell. Could be great, could be shit. That's why there's a 2 hour preview window before the auction starts. You can play every single game there (if you have the time!) and decide for yourself the condition the games are in.

MOST used games do not come with locks and keys, especially those on route, because most likely the vendor put his own locks and keys into the machine and they match his other machines. Most people buying games for their own personal use don't really want locks on their games anyway. If you do, locks cost $5-$10.

Most of the games are dirty and damaged because they're old games that have been on routes or in storage. If they were new and pretty and desireable then they'd be on a route or in an arcade somewhere. That's why they're for sale -- because people aren't playing them anymore.
