    Default PSX to USB convertors

Can anyone reccomend a good convertor to use PSX/PS2 controllers on a PC? The reason I want to do this is two fold:

1.) I've had my gameport microsoft sidewinder forever, but the d-pad is CRAP. Thus, it's terrible for any kind of figthing game.

2.) I'd like to be able to play Stepmania/Dance With Intensity with my ps1 pads. Even though I own all the US DDR releases, I'd like to be able to play some of the original fan made song/step patterns and some of the ones that never made it to home consoles.

So, can canyone reccomend one? And a good place from which to order? I was going to order from zophar.net but the ZD store is now closed.

A poster here sells all kinds of them. I think his name is sylentwolf, and his store MIGHT be called electric quarter or something like that. Google that and see what you get.

A third option is to pick one up for $10 at Radio Shack.

    Default EMS

The EMS USB converter is a good one. Just don't lose the drivers that come with it!

EDIT: I read somehere that these do work w/ the dance pads, BTW, but never tried it myself.

Playstation to USB converters are the BEST!!! I got mine at Fry's electronics (don't know if you have those there). I have also heard that you can get them at Radio Shack. I any case, you shouldnt have to order one unless you live in the sticks.

The best one that supports the most things (including all DDR and stepmania) is this one:

I bought a y-cable psx/2 to USB convertor a while back (while in Korea), which allows me to hook-up two psx controllers at the same time and has been great for playing all sorts of MAME stuff from the couch.

I live in mortal fear of needing to reinstall my OS because I can't find the driver disk for this wonderful device. Anyone know where I can get another one just like it? (One USB, two playstation controller ports, no I don't recall the brand)

Hey sylent, haven't seen you in awhile. Visited your store before, but never ordered anything. Assuming my car (which is in the shop right now) doesn't run me broke, you can probably expect an order from me in the next day or so.

EDIT: You know, could you tell me one more thing? I know some of the PSX/USB convertors have problems hitting two directions at the same time (say, left and right at once) which is needed for DDR and the like. Can you assure me that this one does that alright? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

yeah, this one and the dual controller adapter I have both have a DDR mode that allows simultaneous inputs. The older ones (like the N64/PS one) don't.
