Default New Intellivision Game - Stonix?

Wandered over to the INTVFunhouse, and there was some news about the release of a new Intellivision game, Stonix. Sure, there's been a demo available for download and all, but it seems like they are going to be selling full carts with overlays, packaging and everything. Here's the main site for more details:

    Arnauld Chevallier's STONIX

Buried in the FAQ, you can find that the projected price is $55 shipped in the U.S. Anyway, it's interesting news nonetheless.

Kinda pricey, but man, it'd be cool to have a homebrew for what has gradually emerged as one of my favorite consoles.

@ Arqueologia_Digital there was another cartridge made called 4-tris a few years ago. I don't think they made many though. I think there are other new games that can be played with an emulator or the Intellicart but no other real cartridges.

I was looking at that the other day and was really interested but couldn't find a price. I guess I'll pass. Nice piece of work though.

But will it be available at CGE? I just dusted off my INTV recently and I'm rather enjoying it. I would certainly but a cool looking game like this.

Making Inty carts isn't easy; You have to use a somewhat modern chip that can emulate the 10 bit (?) code the Inty runs on.

Am I getting the facts right? I know it's something along those lines.

What a small world it is.

I had emailed the guys there to place an order. Last night I received a reply from one of our CGE Museum curators, Chris Neiman (who is largely responsible for the outstanding Intellivision wing of the museum). Turns out Chris is one of the founders of this new development team IntelligentVision.

Turns OUT, Stonix is being debuted at CGE next week!

That will save me some shipping costs. The game looks great and knowing that Chris backs it up just confirms it. I'd urge any Intellivision gamer or collector to grab a copy of this one.

I just ordered mine last night. I didn't know it would be available at CGE or I would have waited. Oh well.

Well, let me say a few things. First of all, $55 may seem steep if you are an Atari collector, but definately not Intellivision. I have seen, sold, & bought many games that went over $100. Just look at Joe Z's "4-Tris" game. People contact me all the time trying to find one....& they are willing to pay big bucks..... a heck of alot more than $55! Who are we to say that is too much? If people are willing to pay, I think it is o.k. -(I'm a poet & didn't Know it!)

Also regarding the price- The game will never sell for less than it is right now. As a long time collector, I can tell you that the few of these games that will be sold will do nothing but appreciate in value. That is the whole Idea behind limiting the numbers produced & selling them at a reasonable price.

Furthermore, you are not realizing all of the overhead & people involved in this project. The game has been in the programming stages for over a year & in the production stages for another year. The people involved are from all over the world. (It is not just a guy in his basement whipping up a game in a week-end on his Commadore 64!) There is thousands of $$$ invested, a dozen people fully involved, & thousands of hours of time over a 2 year period. These people have programmed, debugged, changed, re-changed, tested, written, brainstormed, done graphic work, artwork, designs, etc. all for the Intellivision gamers. Beleive me, its not for the money.

And if I may be frank, It is one of the best games ever produced for the Intellivision system. Totally Awsome & completely designed from the ground up. You would be lucky to acquire one of these games.

    .....$55 too much ? ...I think not.
I used to be rich ..... That is, until I started collecting Intellivision.....

A 2600 cart can be done with just an eprom and inverter, a intv one takes much more than that.

Homebrew or not, look at the current market for a NEW game. In Canada, a new game with good hype will sell for 59.99 CDN. A year or two ago, 69.99.

$55 for a game that is basically a once in a lifetime offer. Made by people that are likely the 1 in a million that have the know-how to program it both software and hardware end, and can scrape together enough time to do it. As well as have the resources and money to make it happen.

    $55 is chump change.
