    Default Famicom Disk System question

I recently recieved a replacement belt for my previously not working FDS and installed it. The sytem now reads the discs but I get an error message of either 21 or 22 with each of the disks I insert. I have searched this site and have read that either I need to adjust the speed of the belt spinning or I need to do a disc alignment. I would like to try the option that is most likely to correct my problem first. Any suggestions as well as a link to a site with instructions would be appreciated.

That is a common error to get when the belt must be realligned. It involves turning the tiny screw on the motor in tiny (REAL tiny) increments until you find the right spot. I've personally never been able to accomplish this correctly, though DP forum member Zach has.....along with a couple others I've met before, but not in the DP forums. It's a pain in the ass. I believe Bung had a program to help you do it, but you needed their hardware AND their impossible to find software to do it. God luck man...lots of trial and error.

Try cleanin the heads first too....fixes 95% of non-belt related problems.

Join the club dude. I'm thinking about sending mine to this guy named Greg Cook who lives in like New Zealand who says he's never met a FDS he couldn't fix. I'll let you know if I end up sending it to him.

Really? That's interesting...I wonder if he does mods too (to defeat the copy protection...something I've been working on for a while)...hmmm. I've been looking for some rare repair disks for the FDS for some time, I wonder if that's what he's using or if he'd sell such disks. What's he charge? Could you pm me his email address?

    If so, thanks!
