Default Most beautiful graphics on Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis?

My pick is Final Fantasy 6. Especially the final multi-screen boss.

    Your picks?

    Chrono Trigger, hands down.

There are scenes in that game that rival PLAYSTATION graphics!

Alien Soldier is very impressive, Aladdin for Genesis, Donkey Kong Country. Those are all pretty impressive.

I feel bad for American-only gamers. They often miss out on the most visually impressive games for each system. :P

SNES - Star Ocean, with Tales of Phantasia, Seiken Densetsu 3, Donkey Kong Country 3, Chrono Trigger, and others being mighty impressive as well.

Genesis - Hmmm... so many inventive graphical manipulation techniques in many games, but it's hard to pick one that stands above all the others. Some of the best would be Sonic & Knuckles, Gunstar Heroes, Vectorman, Flashback, Ranger X, etc.

Almost word for word what i would have said just would have added bahumut lagoon. I mean star ocean has actually voices and stuff in the game. I would also like to add the megaman x games to the list.

For genesis hmmmmmmmm maybe rocket knight adventures, shinobi 3,virtual racing (sort of) ummmmm i'll need to think of more.

Seiken Densetsu 3 has, hands-down, the greatest graphics of any system of that era.

Im a die hard genesis fan. however i had a hard time thinking about games with beautiful graphics.

I think the genesis definitely doesnt have better graphics than snes ...but what counts is seeing them in motion...genesis games dont have hundreds lof colors, but they generally have bigger sprites, more speed, etc than snes games....(gunstar heroes comes to mind...the graphics are amazning...but i wouldnt grade them as a work of art)

Not much to add, but god the graphics on Sonic still look sweet to me when you're zooming around like crazy. Only wish that getting hit and losing 100 coins didnt make so much slowdown

    Style award:
Best-looking titles on the Mega Drive are Wonder Boy VI and VII (Monster World III and IV, respectively); Beyond Oasis isn't even second but is still worthy of a mention. Comix Zone is a bit darker and muddier than Beyond Oasis, but is more complex graphically and it's the best of the 1990s American-style graphics on the system thanks to the literal use of comic book ideas. Super Fantasy Zone is awesome, as well.

    Most accomplished technicals/details:
So far, in my limited experience with the platform Light Crusader has the best use of highly detailed characters, and there's really no arguing that the technical aspect can be bested. Despite the insane amount of detail, though, this title still manages to have bland environments :(

Yoshi's Island. It's just the epitomy of 2D gfx for me. It's what happens when you take a genre that's at saturation point (2D Platformer) and add your own personality and artistry. Previous Shigsy games had his personality all over them but not in the graphical sense that this game has. As far as I'm aware it was a very concious decision by Shigsy to make the gfx look hand-drawn and childish as a backlash to all the realistic gfx being touted by Sony and Sega - how arty farty is that!? I don't think this game has aged one bit and I think that's to do with it's timeless beauty. Get the feeling I love this game!?

Not that it's a wonderful port, but the graphics for the Genesis version of Shadow of the Beast still make me say wow (especially that darned overworld!) It's pretty close, visually anyway, to the Amiga version, with an occasional addition of nifty parallax effects. The gameplay is brutal, though, and the sound is inexcusable.

Well, for the Genesis, I'm going to have to go with Batman & Robin. The special effects and animation in that game are pretty wild.

For the SNES, I'm going to have to second Yoshi's Island. I still think it's the most beautiful 2D platformer there is.

My second vote for the SNES is Street Fighter Alpha 2. It's actually not to far off from the arcade version except for the animation.
