Default Neo-Geo question (sell well on ebay?)

While poking around the thrift shop today, I saw a neo-geo with 5 games for 35 bucks... I know zilch about the system but did look up the games I rememebered in the online rarity guide and it seems like a good deal since 2 of the games were 6 and 7 rated on the rarity scale...

question is: anyone know if rare neo-geo games sell well on ebay? I looked at the current auctions for the system and it seemed dead, but there weren't any rare games up for bid, either.

If the system and games all work then grab that Neo ASAP. You can't go wrong for $35.

Thanks... hope it's still there tomorrow. It was just sitting on a dusty shelf by itself. I had gone in to look for colecovision stuff and had no idea what it was when I saw it, just remembered "neo-geo" and "SNK" on all of the game boxes (yes, complete boxes with the games)... didn't notice if they were cartridges or CD version though, which makes a big difference according to the online guide. Keep in mind, I'd be getting this just to make a buck since I'm not looking to get a new system... of course, I would plan to use those bucks made on the colecovision games I'd like to get!

The games I remembered were Samurai Showdown either 2 and 3 or 3 and 4... and King of Fighters 1995 and 1994. I couldn't believe the listed prices in the online guide -- I had no idea the system might be worth anything. But, again, I don't know if they were cartridges or cd's... either way, it seems like a good deal.

The box looked like it was about maybe 18 inches by 18 inches for the main console... I really didn't look too closely. I was just trying to remember the names of the games so I could look them up in the online guide. It was easy since they were all fighting games with numbers in them.

So I'm guessing that would be the home console? Which is better in terms of resale value?

Also, I have no idea if the system works... didn't see any indication it wouldn't though... did notice it had some small (about 2-3 inches?) adapter component of some sort with 2 female plugs on one end... does that help?

Home Cart system = more valuable than the CD system. Although the CD system can still net you quite a bit of profit with that price.

When you look at the games you'll know which it is though, the cart versions are HUMONGOUS... think a SNES cartridge on top of a SNES cartridge that's on top of a SNES cartridge. then about 1.5 times as thick. That's just the cart, the case is larger to fit around the beast :D

Let us know what you get before you bring it to eBay, I know a lot of people here would love to start NG collecting.

The cart games fetch a decent amount, even the early cart stuff. Especially if your getting it for $35.00. If it's CD games none of those will fetch much.

Well, there is a neo-geo CD console on ebay right now going for 12.50, but it doesn't include any cds or cords... nada. So, I will buy it tomorrow (I think they're closed on Sunday) and let you all know the exact contents. I'm nearly positive the games were the cd version and not the cartridges, b/c I'm sure there were slim jewel cases for each game.

Heck, man, even if you end up getting a couple common games out of the group, I'll trade for them (see my available list in the sig link)...even if it's something as common as Samurai Shodown (the 1st one) or another lesser game. Yeah, I'd also like to know what you get...just any single cartridge would do (better if it was complete), or if you wanted to trade it all to me, maybe we could work something out...

Ok, they actually are open on Sunday... I bought the system and have been playing all of the games the last few hours and everything works great.

It is a neo-geo cd system and it came with all the cords needed as well as the adapter for the outlet, the joypad, all the original boxes and inserts/instructions, jewelcases, etc. and also an extra neo-geo cd joystick (also with its original box). The games are:

    Samurai Showdown 2 and 3
    King of Fighters '95
    Sengoku
    Real Bout Fatal Fury

They were all fun to play, but I'm not really into fighter games, so I'll either unload it on ebay or trade for some colecovision or pc stuff.

Judging from the online rarity guide, I did pretty well.

If you Ebay them Sengoku the only one you might get a okay price for. All the other ones go for dirt cheap.

Ok.. I'll bite. How much do you want for the system; and what kind of PC stuff are you looking for? No Colecovision unfortunately.. my collection starts at 8-bit.

I'm curious what you mean by PC stuff as well and would look into obtaining that system possibly :)

Colecovision is 8 bit....as is atari 2600, odyssey^2, and any other system featured in dp7.....processors under 8 bits are nearly impossible to program for, and in fact, the colecovision has a main processor that operates at 2x the speed of nes(3.58 mhz instead of 1.79!)while nes uses a processor from the same 6502 line as atari systems...

Most people think the Atari 2600 is 4 bit.

"Post Crash" is a better description.

"With color, shapes, AND scrolling playfields" takes to long to type

Ok, I can't get a trade going on here... any recommendations for a starting bid/price on ebay? It comes with all of the original boxes and inserts, foam molding, etc. Even the manual for the console.

What should I expect it to sell for?

Better to package the cd's in 1 lot and the console with the extra joystick in another?

    Appreciate any helpful advice!
