mechassaults garbage though.the thing is you cant do a mech sim type game on a console without either usb keyboard support or a weird controller . like commandos 2 on xbox is like impossible to play . it used every key on the keyboard for the pc version and the xbox version has all these crazy menues and a 3 hour tutorial. steel battallion sounds great from this thread. im just curious as to how long the game is? if its a really short game id like to know. also with the xbox live you can go on www.xbconnect.com and play xbox live for free if you have a router and a spare network cable. (yes now you can play halo multiplayer)
Xbconnect has nothing to do with Live...it's just a program that tricks your xbox into thinking that it's on a LAN. Any game that you can play using network play like Halo, you can play on it.

I rather enjoyed Gundam on Dreamcast...

Well.. having just started playing I can't really say how long the game is.. but reviewers did complain that it was rather short. Something like 20 missions and half of them are lengthened, expanded rehashes of the previous ten maps (At least that's what I read.). What with the learning curve and all, I'm going to be playing it for awhile though.

I got mine off eBay for $117.50 (plus $20 S&H; poor seller ended up paying $32 for Priority Mail and ate the difference I guess). I consider myself lucky because I'd been watching for a year and never saw it quite that low. I got the first issue green button model in mint condition. The only downside is that it didn't come with the box; but for the money I saved.. I can do without that.

BTW.. Mechwarrior II.. to date.. IMHO.. is the greatest "Mech" genre game of all time.. hands down.

Yes, there are only 20 single-player missions, the second set are a re-hash of the first 10. It will take a long, long time to get through all 20 if you don't set the difficulty on 'lowest.'

And I need to stress again, the online game is spectacular.

Hell, Zach liked the standalone. He's a much better writer than any of the rest of us in this thread so far, and he says pretty much everything I would.

After playing through the game on all of the difficulty levels and then goofing around with using alternate VTs to beat missions, my Steel Battalion mission time clock stood at 160 hours.

I played the hell out of that game.

Maybe I should open my Steel Battalion sometime soon and give it a whirl.

Maybe I should open and play my DDR Ultramix. Or Prince of Persia.

Or maybe I should play half of my other Xbox games that I've barely touched.

Nah. I'm having too much fun with the games on my other systems.

I do not like my steel Battlion much but it was definatlt worth the cash. I think the game is way to hard to learn/play. It looks awsome though and everyone who walks in my room goes what the hell? The game is slow, but every once in a while I like giving it a whirl, somethign different from other games.
