    Default Personal Holy Grail Acquired

You know what's funny about this hobby?

You never know when that one thing, that single item, maybe even that one game that made you start collecting all this videogame stuff in the first place is going to pop up right under your nose.

I've been buying and selling (mostly buying) arcade cabinets since 1995 now. For almost ten years, I've been looking for one particular game. Well, that's not exactly true -- I look for dozens of games, but there's been one that I've never been able to find at a decent price. Hell, it's getting pretty hard to find, and when you DO find 'em, they usually come with either a long list of things that need fixing as well, or a way too high price tag.

Anyway, last Friday, two days before my birthday, I finally got one.

I hate to even post it yet because I haven't picked it up, but from everything the guy's said, the machine's in great shape (or good enough for me, at least). I've got a special place waiting in my little home arcade for this baby.

    Nice snag!

"Gauntlet II" is indeed a great game.

You've inspired me to begin my quest for a "Satan's Hollow" cabinet.

Wow! It's a good thing I was at CGE when that ended. I'd have easily paid that for a G2!!

NICE FIND and a great price! It's always cool to see people get the games they really want! Next time I make a game run to OKC I'll have to swing by and play it some!

    Congrats!

Awesome machine man! Someday I just may go buy the golden axe machine I've been thinking about getting for a while.

I highly recommend it. I love emulation and I love ROMs, but I also love standing in front of a 300lb chunk of wood and playing my favorite games from time to time.

You were quite honestly who I was worried about, seeing as though it's in (or around) your neck of the woods.

You should make it up for OKGE and stop by on the way up! But bring quarters, the Elf's food don't come for free.

    Warrior needs food badly!

MY favorate quarter eater. When that game came out we would go up there and my friend would direct everyone like a DM. We were very serious about it.. like an army delving into the underworld.

I found that when I play Darran's quarter eaters now, they don't have the same.. "you only have 2 quarters left!" feel.

Play offroad and it's NITROS, NITROS, NITROS *WALL* NITROS, NITROS

So true. Nothing compares to a cab.

Nice find. I have never played the game but its an awsome cabinet. How many does that make now?

Amen on that, bro. Ain't nothin' like it. And, like someone else has already said, I'll be right over.

Well I have about 20 at the moment, but that number's starting to change. I'm weeding out some of the not so great ones to make room for the ones I really like.

BTW, Gauntlet II is the only game in my gameroom that's going to be set for quarters. Seriously. Any other game is free play, but the idea of free play ruins Gauntlet. So, when I wanna play, it'll be with what change I can scrounge up out of the laundry room.

    Elf needs quarters, badly.

Have you thought about setting up the coin acceptor for tokens and getting one of those bags o' vintage arcade tokens off of eBay? Or does that skirt the 'free play harshing the Gauntlet buzz' idea too closely?

im sure you have probably thought of something to do with the quarters, but my suggestion is to save all the quarters that you use in that cab to fund another cab. pick a cab out that you really want, and use only Gauntlet II funds to buy it.

Thats cool that you finally found the one game you were looking for. Plus for only 300 bucks to boot! Very nice.

Oh and red warrior has shot his food.

glad you liked it....if you do do that, i would love to know how many months you had to play it before you made enough to get another cab that you want

Aw man, nice fuggin' score! One of my fondest early arcade memories is playing that with 3 friends for hours at the youth club thingy we all went to over the summer one year, aged about 8 or 9.
