Default Human Grand Prix: THe New Generation-N64-not on list

    Hi Folks,

THough I haven't yet received my DP Advance guide, I noticed that this game is not on the list...got it at the flea market this weekend.

OMG OMG!! It must be teh RARE!!!11!!

J/k...anyone have any idea of rarity? Is this one going to be in the guide?

    Thanks!!

It isn't in the guide because it is a japanese only release. Never came to the US, that is unless someone brought it here from japan which looks like may have happened in your case.

Rarity? not too rare, but not something you see everyday in north america.

Hmmm, that's odd...nothing on it indicates it being a Japanese release. Any way I can tell by looking at the cart? I haven't seen too many Japanese N64 carts, so I'm not really sure.

US carts have two notches on the back on both outside edges.

Japanese carts have the notches closer to the center.

OK, I'll check that out when I get home tonight...thanks for the help! So I guess if it turns out to be an American release, we'll have a bit of a mystery on our hands...:-)

    Yep, what Oobgarm said!

It shouldn't fit in your US-N64 if it's a Japanese release. Gotta pop it on a gameshark, or screw up the cart/console so it'll fit regularly.

There are a lot of Japanese games with that sort of title... IIRC, Human is a company over there that makes a lot of games that don't get brought over here. Kind of like calling it Midway Grand Prix.

It's most likely an F-1 style racing game, here's an Ebay auction for it.

Easiest way to tell would be to see if there's an ESRB logo on the cart; no rating pretty much means it's Japanese!

Two of Human's games were brought to the States by Working Designs -- Vasteel for the TG 16 CD, and Vanguard Bandits for the PlayStation.

The company has now gone out of business, IIRC.

    Hey Foplks,

Japanese it is. I took one look at the back and saw the Japanese back label...definitely Japanese. Also, someone files the two corners out to fit it in a USA system. Dunno how I didn't notice that before, btu I guess I just wasn't expecting it to be Japanese at first....odd find around these parts. Even odder, who the hell would go out of their way to import a racing import N64 game? Maybe it's really good! I hate racing games, but I'll give it a shot. :-)

    N64 has some great imports!

Let us know how that is!

Some Blockbusters, back when the n64 first came out, actually had some Japanese games for rental. (With the corners cut, to work on a US system.) That game was one of them. I remember renting it. The game is alright if you enjoy F1 racing games, but it isn't some superb hidden gem that the US was missing out on.

Human made the Clock Tower games... although that would explain why Clock tower 3 was developed by Capcom.

Yeah, I remember that too. The lack of US releases for a while there meant brisk import business in late 1996 - early 1997.

VERY interesting little piece of history...I had no idea. That makes a LOT of sense since i had to GooGone a good amount of glue grime off the front and back of the cart. Definitely was a rental somewhere.

Thanks, Man! Great backstory to this baby!

This game was released in the United States as F1 Pole Position.

You can do much better if you want a N64 Formula One game, this one is horrible.

    Hmm, that's a shame.

Human did a lot of OS work for the x68K and some other stuff; there's a game out there called something like "Human Ski" with one nice track in the *.spc...sort of a traditional Japanese drum loop, short, but a fun listen for half a minute.
