Default How to work a virtual boy? help!

I got a virtual boy from my freind and it came with the ac adapter, a controller, the stand, and 2 games. I plugged the ac in to the wall, connected it to the controller, then plugged the one from the controller into the system and hit on the on switch on the controller. Is it suppose to start right away? Is there another switch I cant find? maybe its just broke.

Assuming it's all set up and that the adapter, wall outlet, etc are all good... sounds like it's broken. Did you insert a game?

oops.... just kidding. I think its broken, tried my other adapter and it still doesnt work. It was only 3 bucks and I could probably get the money back and still keep the system but I dont really care.

You easily make a huge profit just by ebaying off the cloth eyeshield... those alone are $25+.

How long have you waited for it to boot up?

Awhile back I thought my VB had bit it when I turned it on and nothing happened. I tried switching to a different controller and replaced the batteries--didn't help.

In the end I figured out I just had to a wait a few moments for it to boot up. It probably took 15 seconds or so. I know that doesn't sound like a long time, but when you're looking like an idiot because you have your face pressed into a dorky looking machine that is doing nothing, it can feel like an eternity.

I let it try to boot for like 30 seconds because someone said that it takes long.

hmm, does seem like a broken VB.. but open the tap and make sure the AC adapter is firmly plugged into it before popping it on the controller, sometimes they go loose.

My VB takes 5-10 seconds to boot up,but it does sound like yours is broken. I suggest making sure the AC adapter and AC tap are in properly, as the first few times I tried to use mine, I didn't have either part in all the way.
    Egbert, I miss you...

How about sticking 6 AA batteries in the controller?

I recommend keeping the sucker, its worth some good dollar especially the eyeshade holder/cloth and the ac adapter/tap. Its sounds like everything was done correctly so im guessing your VB doesnt work -- BUt keep it or try and fix it -> check the pic it may help regarding the parts you need :

The adapter tap is worth a bit of cash, but the AC adapter itself is not. It's the same adapter as the SNES.

yeah I already tried my snes ac adapter, doesnt work. I dont have the eyeshade thing, the battery pack, or the headphones though. And you will probably laugh at the games I have, mario tennis and vertical force. How much is the ac adapter holder thing worth?

    edit:

    $20
    (L)oose or (C)omplete: C

    but mine is loose...

Mitch, thanks for that chart. Damn, it's gonna be hard tracking down the stand and eye-piece.

Can any kick-stand work, or does it have to be the one that came with it.

With some ingenuity, you can use other stands/tripods/lamp arms.
