    Default Toymax Activision Gamepad 10-1

I was at KMart last week and while looking for anything worth purchasing I came across a Toymax Activision Gamepad with 10 Activision classics built into the gamepad, all that was needed was 4 AA batteries as the RCA cable are already hardwired into the pad and just a quick connect and I was playing the following.

    1.Pitfall
    2.Atlantis
    3.Boxing
    4.Tennis
    5.River Raid
    6.Spider Fighter
    7.Crackpots
    8.Freeway
    9.Ice Hockey
    10.Grand Prix

I am not sure which system that is being emulated but the graphics tend more towards the Intellivision but it is very responsive and quite fun to use and for 15.90 was worth adding to the collection. You can see it at toymax.com.
I am wondering what other think of this device and how it stacks up to the originals.

    Best Regards

Its emulation of the Atari 2600. It's a nice little device and fun to play.
List of little problems with it.

1- It's too easy to hit reset by accident while playing. :-)

2- You have to hook it up through a VCR's AV inputs. Going directly to a TV causes the display to be too bright and washed out.

3- There are graphical errors. The Alligators in Pitfall! look like they have lipstick on. Also the missle in Atlantis doesn't show on most VCR tuners.

Besides those problems, it's a fun device. I love the version of Ice Hockey, and Spider Fighter is fun too, and crack pots!!

i have one of these thingys, in fact i got mine before they came out due to active ebay scanning. its good for a quick pitfall fix but the feel is off due to that largely useless controller set up. i've considered a project where i would gut one of these babys and stuff it into the base of 2600 remote stick, thus giving it the proper feel and look. about half a year ago we had a guest at one of our trademeets who works for atari/infogrames and he mentioned that there had been plans for more of these based on atari titles, dont know what came of that though.
