Default Do you miss anything on your current gen consoles??

after reading far too many console flame wars in various boards i thought it would be interesting to see peoples opinions about what things/games are missing on the consoles you own? especially on the ones YOU LIKE

    (only 128-bit consoles pls, gc/xbox/ps2/dc

    i'll start

    Cube:

RACING games, especially good rally games, i know there are some more in the US than in Europe (auto modellista, nascar...) but i really really mis good racing games

still too few rpgs, although the situation is getting better and better

    no baseball game in europe

    PS2:

oldschool jump&runs, i'm not the biggest fan of games like jak&dexter and so on, i like them, but i prefer classic jump&runs, like Donald Duck Quack Attack (yeah!)

    DC:

    too few rpg's imho
far too many games didn't make it to germany, like (again) the baseball games, a lot of the 2d-shmups and 2d-beatemups

    I completely agree!

    All consoles, including PCs:
Space-sims. They would be gorgeous with current technology...

speaking of space, they need a quality wing commander on a console. they used to do it all the time. i know for a fact they did it with snes and sega cd. i know that they ported wc: prophecy i think to the gba, but seriously, that might be a little hard to play on gba.

i want an xbox wing commander ot something extremely similar to those lines

    Cube:

-option for a different style controller. Whoever thought that the bean buttons, a big honkin' "A" button and a little candy red "B" button was a good idea needs their skull examined. I can get used to that but the C stick just feels awkward-it's too tight for precision in games like Medal of Honor.

    In General:

-more space sims. Like SegaTecToy I enjoy good space flight/sim games. Starlancer was decent but nothing's really surfaced, even on PCs. The Rogue Squadron games don't really fit the bill due to the fact that in space you don't have the full freedom of movement (if you fly straight down the game wants to level you off). I want to fight the bad guys, not the game's engine.

-more exploration-type games. One of my fave 16 bit games was Starflight for the Genesis. It's as close as a "proper" Star Trek game could be: fly to planets, scan them, land on them, meet aliens and speak/barter/fight with them, find new worlds to colonize, etc. There really hasn't been a game like that in some time and it boggles my mind why no one attempts something like this. I think it would be fun as long as there is an ample amount of combat (both land and space).

Cube: A Zelda game with replay value :/

I dunno why, just felt like saying that. Maybe I'll feel differently later, but I will say that I'll be going back to the N64 Zeldas in the future, but not the GC one.

PS2: Funky affine-textured Tenchu. I found a site with a variety of voice acting rips from the game, though, and what sounded funny years ago sounds just plain bizzarre now.

XBox NeXt: Needs more Hard Drive and Steve Jobs (by the same token, the Playdia needed a hand from Steve, who probably would've killed it dead at the start; conversely, the iMac needs more Steve Wozniak).

Older, traditional japanese RPG's, even for the PS2.
I want my weapon and armor upgrades, and long boring level-up trudging! Ala dragonwarrior series.

Hell, that IS what's missing, did you know they just updated DW5 and re-leased in japan now too? Bad enough DW4's update never made it out over here damnit.

Hell, it's bad enough DW5,6,8 haven't made it over here at ALL, japan has TWO DW5's to play now. AAHHHHHHH. Damn you japan! Damn you Enix! Let square translate for chirssakes.

It's already been said, but I'll add another vote for carts. I understand that carts really aren't feasible anymore in terms of storage, manufacturing costs etc. But there's just something I find cool about snapping in a cart; in effect adding another piece of hardware which changes the fundamental nature of the machine. I know that isn't really how it works, but this is more of an aesthetic sense than a functional one.

In fact that's the only reason I bought an N64, as it will probably go down in history as the last.cartridge console.ever.

Got another to add: good multiplayer, twitch Track and Field type games. We haven't really seen a game in recent time that were addictive or joyously painful as Epyx's Summer or Winter Games, Konami's Track and Field games or World Games. I remember spending hours trying to get my controller holding/button mashing technique down so I can get an edge against my opponents.
