    Default GBA SP's now $79.99

Yep. Or at least soon. They are already at my store, don't know the official date.

Any predictions on a new price for the DS? Still $149.99? Maybe $119.99? I say they're preparing for the DS to become the new GBA.

    Discuss.

Wow, does this include the NES SP's as well? If so, I might have to go pick one up sometime soon.

As for the DS, I'd bet on it being $149.99, $40 games. I doubt they'll push it to replace the SP, but since it is backwards compatable I wouldn't see too much of a reason to buy an SP over a DS depending on the software lineup.

nintendo says that the DS will not replace the SP, but, with the DS being backwards compatable, i have a feeling that the SP will stop selling well and will slowly be removed from store inventories with the DS coming in to replace the SP altogether

You are very correct good sir.

Just like Nintendo did to us with GBA, GBC, GB Pocket, and original GBY

Yet I will say the GBA (regular) has to be the shortest lived system to date...under 2 years old...the SP was right behind it...Kinda sad....then again GBA SP's life span is shorter by 1 year and 8 months since it's March release in 2003 till Nov. of 2004 (So we know as the release date of the NDS)

Technically the GBA and GBA SP are the same system. Just as the original GB and the Pocket were. Only differences was new cases and enhancements in the usage. But the games play exactly the same. Same formats. GB games could go on both the pocket and the original without fail. GBA games can be used on both models.

So the original GB format survived for about 11 years. The Color for only 3 and the GBA for 4 now going on 5. The Color is the shortest lived in reality. (Is was a loss really. Simply colorized versions of regular GB games on the same sized screen and a twice as fast processor.) And I suspect it'll be another year before the GBA gets phased off and whatever is next as a GB comes out. (Be it DS or their rumored so-called "GBA Successor".)

True, from the numbers of "Still in stores" so to speak, right?

Now to see how much a Used GBA/ GBA SP will be interesting...

Or the price of a new GBA should (Or has it?) should be dropping too

yea, but once the pocket came out, no one wanted the big brick, so the sales for that slowed until pocket was all that was left....same way once the sp came out, no one wanted the "brick" of a gba....and stores stopped stocking those

Still, it doesn't matter. I'm going by the game format as opposed to the console design.

I wouldn't mind having a second GBA SP actually. I had wanted a black one to go with my red one. I won't get it soon, but it's nice to know when I do, it'll be nice and cheap.

By the looks of that, they're trying to establish their name in the portable market as much as humanly possible before the PSP comes out.

Funny thing, those two 3D animated videos remind me of the two "Pixar iMac G4" commercials that never aired. Very surreal and strange. Weird. Odd. I'm confused and scared wheee..

    Whatever.

I still think the best GBA commerical was the bizarre Church one...with the squid in the collection plate...the wrestlers singing...and the CastleVania music was playing...Now that got my attention...

My GOD. I remember that. That was a great campaign. Pre-dates "Who Are You?". Those were some really cool surreal commercials. Anyone have a download?

Remember that Nintendo has not set the price yet.
