Default Please, appraise: Super Metroid (SNES) factory sealed.

How much would be a Super Metroid game, factory sealed? The non-Player's Choice version, the oldest one? Around US$ 300,00? Thanks! =][/list]

I've only got the loosest pulse on values of sealed SNES games, but typically three times the value of the complete version unsealed is a good bet. I'd say 100-125, but given the games popularity it could be higher. No more than 200 for sure.

Let's figure in condition of the item as well. Someone here had a sealed black box Super Mario Bros that looked like it had gone through the trash compactor, and consequently didn't go for very much. I'm up for correction on that however.

Considering that multiple copies of "Chrono Trigger" have recently hit the $600 mark, I think it's safe to say that "Super Metroid" could easily hit the $200 mark.

    Is it worth that much?

    Hell no.

But it's a sought-after game. My guess is anywhere from $150-$300 if the item is in very good condition.

I had a Players Choice one sealed in decent shape on eBay last year...went for $60 + shipping. Shrink was partly torn, box knife cuts on the box, etc etc. I'd say $200 easy on a minty original printing.

According to all recent results that I've seen, an original version, factory-sealed Super Metroid should land you in the $150-$180 range...

Edit: That is to say, for a legitimate factory-sealed copy in mint condition. Slight dings in the box, ever so slight but evident, would lower the value to $125-$165... And one that has been run over by a train, but is (somehow) still sealed...well...try your best to get $30-$60 out of it :P .

The sealed topic always pops up and I sold a SHeeeton of sealed nes games so I know a little about the market. If you're buying, it's worth what you want to pay for it. If you're a silly enough soul to pay for a sealed game then you're silly enough to create your very own set of limites. I sold a guy roughly 30 or so sealed nes games for $1000. He bought because it was reasonable, I sold because they weren't worth that much to me...make sense?

As far as consistent pricing...never. You can find some uber-rare games for $5 but you might be able to sell it for $1000 or some not so extreme cases. It's too bad that it has to be this way but there just isn't a good set of prices for any game, especially with ebay.

Bottom line: If you're the buyer, set a personal limit. If you're the seller, it's worth exactly what it's worth to the biggest nut out there when you drop it into the market.

Just my two cents...probably only one cent today..

Everytime i heard or read the word "appraise", I got flashback from the Antique Road Show where they show the 50$ Pacman.

Didn't see that one. Do you mean to say they appraised a loose NES pacman at $50?
