Ugh, stuff like this does make me want to slap people.

Did he decide to open up the NES and fill it with cement? Or is he gonna fill up the box, that he ships the NES with, with rocks instead of packing peanuts?

    Questions..questions..

To be honest, it's because eBay is getting fucking greedy and the plethora of fees (in this case the ludicrous percentage based listing fee and the final value fee) are the reasons sellers are doing this.

I think its stupid as hell on both sides, but eBay is getting worse by the day.

I agree. Sellers have to pay ebay fees, final price fees plus paypal fees...theyre getting too greedy!

It'll be shut down soon enough, ebay doesn't stand for this crap. There's anough overcharging on shipping without quadruple charging on shipping.

i know $39 is overpriced, but that is kinda heavy, so at least probably $10 is going to shipping....but, i dont think the sellers are wrong by doing this....ebays fees are awful....plus, most people pay with paypal, and paypal also has fees....so you lose yet more money.....plus, doesnt ebay own paypal now, so they are getting all that money too

in all, of the $40, about $10 is going ebay, so the seller isnt making all that much after the cost of shipping

To tell you the truth, If someone was selling something I actually wanted and the selling price + the shipping price = reasonable price I wouldn't have a problem bidding on it. I coudn't care less if the shipping was inflated and the selling price was low. As long as my final paying price was reasonable.

Me too. The problem I have is the inbetween. When the selling price is a little low and you think it's just a good deal until you see an inflated shipping cost. They are purposely trying to decieve you. With the auctions linked to above, the sellers aren't trying to be deceiving.

Indeed they do. But originally it was just listing fees.

Now there is listing fees, percentage listing fee based on start price, the dreaded FVF which is a complete crock of shit, and the amazing amount of paypal fees.

If anyone here remembers the days when great freeware was noticed and then became expensive software, this is exactly what is happening to eBay.

They were already grossing a massive amount from advertising and listing fees alone. The FVF was just the stake in the heart, and caused many sellers to just say "F U ebay, we'll sell for a buck then".

And I say ebay deserves it.

    Again I say...

Don't like it? Don't use it..

For some reason you think that just because they started to charge you a little more that it gives you the right to cheat the system. I know you think this will suddenly make Ebay sit up and say "Hmmm.. maybe we've looked at this the wrong way..."

Well they will... And then you will be complaining because they now factor in shipping to the Final Value.. Then of course people will not list the shipping charges..

Which leads to YOU buying a one dollar NES and being blind sided by the 39 bucks or more to ship it..

somebody semms to be getting angry here.

if they cheated the system, good for them. damn the man AND his master plan. 99% of people that sell on eBay do it to make money, not to just get rid of something rare. if they did that, $.01 bin's would popo up everywhere. as long as they make money, and as long as i buy things for reasonable prices, i could care less what shipping is

    No not angry...

Apparently ebay got to that particular reseller as they've changed the last link and relisted the rest. So now it is $9.99 BIN and $30.00 to ship. They also added one extra line to the text
NOTE TO EBAY: Please do not bother us about our listings. There is NOTHING wrong with the way this item is listed. Please bother some of the thousands of sellers who are charging way more for shipping and handling, and or selling illegal items! Thank you!

So I guess the question is... what is "reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item."?

Not three times the real cost... that's for sure.

All auction in this thread have been taken down

At any rate, a REASONABLE handling fee would be $1-$5 depending on the size and cost of the item. Packing would actual packing costs, if you didn't pay for it, then don't charge for it.

I just don't understand why people can't post REAL shipping prices and put a opening bid for what they think is fair.

Could it be they hope to grab stupid newbie EBayers who dont read the auction?

For a LOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNGGGG Time (2 years or so) I charge almost exact shipping/packing fee's.

Then after a lot of research, I found out that other sellers with the same feedback, and style auctions for the EXACT same items were selling more at a lower bid price with higher shipping.

So, I had to conform slightly.
