I've got the Maryland game on in the background, and suddenly during a time out, the band starts blasting out the theme to The Legend of Zelda Has anyone else heard video game music from a college marching band before?

Hmm, nope! Hopefully somebody can get that on tape
I didn't ever see anything like this. However, I would love to hear more stuff like this...my piano teacher picks recital themes every year, and I want her to do a videogame themed piano recital for 2005.
Yea I've heard this before. Its becoming more common. At a Notre Dame game last year they were playing the Super Mario Bros. theme.
I watch college games all the time -- Star Wars music is very common, but VIDEO GAME music?
I'd KILL to hear that.
But it still can't beat the best college song out there, good old 'Rocky Top'. Go Vols!

Never heard video game music at a marching band.
But I have heard Star Wars, and/or Jaws.
A few years ago, I was in my church's handbell choir. Something we were playing sounded suspiciously familiar. One of the guys had arranged the FInal fantasy bridge theme for hanbells. It sounded amazing.
Here's what I did:Originally Posted by TRM

2. After that, buy books of music from various games
I played "Zanarkand" (Final Fantasy X) at my last recital and now am playing "To Far Away Times" (Chrono Trigger)
Egbert, I miss you...
After watching Duke play Maryland in today's ACC tournament game, I heard one the bands playing the theme to The Legend of Zelda. (I assume it was Maryland's band after reading this post.) This totally caught me off guard lol. Anyone else catch this?
Heh, I remember this thread. I was going to say "from high school to colleges...the gaming generation is growing up, and this is our cue to start feeling old."
Zelda music being played makes me lol. They'd definitely have my respect if they did something like music from Thunder Force III or Metal Black - how they could manage I can't imagine, but I'd like to see it done anyway. (Cry for the Moon from Metal Black? Captain Neo from Darius / Metal Soldier Isaac II? Venus Fire?)

FF8's theme at the Olympics, wasn't it? 2004 or something.
