SF2 CE
Perfect.
I'm just getting back into the fighting genre after a 10 year break and am playing every 2D & 3D fighter that I can get my hands on. I'm by no means an expert at fighters yet, but my favorite so far has been Street Fighter III: Third Strike. The parry system is a great addition to the game and the super art moves are real bitchin and easy to pull off too.
For 3D fighters, it's Soul Calibur. No doubt about it. Power Stone 2 is a close second though.
I picked up Guilty Gear #Reload last week and I just can't get into it. Maybe it's because of the wacked-out characters and that it plays so fast. I dunno...I'll give it another try later. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Damn this is hard. As much as I love Guilty Gear XX I can't give it the nod. I'm torn between KoF 97, Garou: MotW, and SFA3. It's a hard road but I think I have to give it all too...
King of Fighters '97. The most underrated in the series and yet possibly the best. Plus it has King in it and is therefore godly.

Holy crap. It's been a while.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Take me to your game store.
You should take all the games listed so far and turn this into a poll.
Then again, knowing this site its probably already been done before.
For me its Garou: mark of the Wolves. I know some would say, why not just choose SF3:TS instead of the obvious imitation, but what it may lack in comparison to its father in terms of gameplay, is made up for in pure art.
MotW > SF3 in character/stage/music design.
SF2: Hyper Fighter, KOf 98, and LB 1 round out my list.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Soul Calibur (I'm going with the first one, but 2 on the 'Cube is almost as good)
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
Shaq-Fu!
*ducks*
For real now, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Marvel VS Capcom 2. And also really close is Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition Arcade, but none of my friends will ever play that with me anymore cause i usually beat them perfect.
I second that SHAQ-FU vote chum! How can you _not_ love the Pepsi logos all over the place?Originally Posted by jwl
Of real fighters though, Street Fighter II Turbo still does it for me. Never got into Super SFII.
Urban Champion
OK.......seriously, I'd probably have to go with one of the variations of Street Fighter 2. That's what got me into fighting games to begin with - either the Championship Edition or Turbo. I also enjoyed the Vs. series, the Alpha series, and the little bit I've played of SF 3.

(Honourable mention: Samurai Shodown 2)
3D: Soul Calibur 2

Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
King of Fighters (any year)
Guilty Gear XX, XX#Reload
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - who ever said that nothing comes close to MvC2, I personally think King of Fighters 2003 is up there with Marvel, cuz in both these games your blood rushes while watching high level matches where there's so much going on at once.
I am at a tie with.....
Street Fighter series
Marvel Vs. Capcom series and
Guilty Gear
oh wait and King of Fighters series
but the funnest o me is MvC and SF
I played Shaq Fu when it came out. it was one of my first games. I thought it was good back then. When i bought a new Genesis a few years back i started off with all the old games i had beforeand realized that that was one of them that got infinately harder.Originally Posted by Brian_Provinciano
Anyways when i was a kid i beat it multiple times. Also i have purchased the game sold it repurchased it and am currently looking into a sealed version. (All Genesis)

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 EASILY. I've been playing this game since it was released and have spent too much time on it.
2nd = Capcom vs. Snk 2.
Say it again, say it again. Garou: Mark of the Wolves is a great game. The Neo Geo never ceases to amaze me. I remember when I used to love Street Fighter on the SNES when they incorporated QSound so in some form or fashion, all-time would be one of the SF (but not that 3d crap they had). But Garou is drawn beautifully and the music is HYPE.Originally Posted by jaydubnb

I'll go even one step farther and say that 2k3 is better than MvC2. Marvel , IMO, has too many throwaway characters and a handful of GODS, while 2K3 has one god and a more balanced roster.
Besides, nothing can top 'Zoc's Peck from Hell (tm). If 2K3 hits XBL you bastards better look out for my Terry/Zoc/Garcia team
