Default Gamecube P1 Controller Port Trouble

For some reason, whenever I play a game, the Cube thinks the C-Stick is permanetly being pressed to the left.

Throught the process of elimination, I've concluded that the problem lies within the Player 1 Controller port.

Are there any other reported cases of this happening?

Hopefully there is a way to fix this without buying another Cube.

Has the cube been dropped on it's face?

You need to replace the controller block inside the GC, if it's damaged.

Heh. The more I read up on this, the more I think the controllers themselves are the problem.

I used this as an excuse to buy a new Wavebird controller ( ) and it seems to work fine. It's really odd that both controllers would crap-out at the same time like that.

Or it could be a habit you have that wears out the c-stick. Like some people used to have on N64 controllers that would have offbrands' Z button get stuck pressed in. (Because they pressed the devil out of it when the Z button was set as the breaks on some games)
