    Default Hardest Game Boss?

Sorry if this question has been asked -- I did a search and I can't find anything EXACTLY like it.

When someone asks you 'who is the hardest boss you ever finally defeated' who comes to mind for you?

I'm talking those nasty, cheating, evil guys (or girls) who made you scream in frustartion, hurl the controller, swear enough to make a sailor blush, and when you DID finally win dance the happy dance of joy.

People who play a lot of RPG's and action games with bosses scattered all over the place will have the easiest on this, as some genre's have little or nothing in the way of bosses.

Oh, and 'mini bosses' are fair game also, although if you had serious problems with a mini boss be prepared to be laughed at for a long time.

Right away someone comes to mind for me. I've played numerous RPG's (one of my favorite genre's) and other games with bosses over the last 20 years. Before 1998 I'm not sure who I would have said -- but that was the summer I traded my old GBA Pocket for a copy of Suikoden II and the guide, one of the best RPG's ever made.

And discovered a whole new meaning to the word 'pain' when I finally clashed aganist Luca for the final time.

The guy is just plain outright NASTY. For those of you who have'nt played the game, you need to beat him THREE times in party combat. That's right, he gets to lay the loving on allmost everyone in your party. He can't actually be defeated in the first and second battles -- your goal is just to inflict as much damage on him as you can, to soften him up for the last fight. This normaly consist of him proceeding to lay waste to your five or six people party in a few rounds.

He attacks twice in each round. He can inflict wide ranging attacks and spells to hit everyone in your party, for hundreds of hit points. He laughs and taunts you after each battle with how weak and pathetic that you are. And his defense is SO good even your best spells and attacks cause only a hundred or so points of damage. Mind you, anyting he has left Luca carries into the third battle aganist you and your chosen elite -- and the guy has around 1200 hit points.

I don't even want to admit how manyh tries it took me, a battle hardened RPG'er who usually laughs at the thought of danger, to finally outlast him. Nor do I care to admit what condition I was left in when it happened -- but it was'nt pretty.

And you REALLY wanted to beat this guy, cause it was about halfway into the game that you got to fight him and had learned to despise Luca. He was pure evil. He slauaghted people for fun, pure innocents who were made to do awfull things before his death. He poisioned his own father to gain control of his country. He used people and his own generals and killed those who fell. He wrecked cities and marched people off to die for nothing. The awfull boss battles aganist him were just made WORSE by how much you wanted him dead.

Finally, after all THAT, you had to fight him ONE more time with your main charcter in a one on one duel. Luckily you get a chance to heal and he is low on health. And before the duel he takes about six arrows to the body. And STILL Luca taunts you before he died.

Man! And here I thought Kefka, who is number two on my list, was a nutcase!

Who would you nominate for this 'prize'?

I know my choices may be odd, but, in no particular order:

Phantom from Devil May Cry. Not that hard, per se, as I can totally whip him now, but the first time going through the game he's a real wake-up call. Most people don't even bother to beat him.

And my runner up would actually be Ridley from Super Metroid, but that may have just been because I was grossly unequiped.

Too lazy to probably ever finish up my older games, but collection funtime.

I couldn't give an exact guess, but I'm willing to bet it's something from a Megaman game.

And as evil as I find Ninja Gaiden, the bosses are nothing compared to the hellishness of being swarmed by god damned birds while crossing a half mile chasm.

    So true.

And while RPGs can pull various tricks on you (i.e. a handful of Phantasy Star bosses that require special items to be used, or maybe that's just one I'm thinking of) they're NOTHING compared to fighting game end bosses...for me, at least. Anybody with half a brain and two fingers can beat an RPG boss...but take, say, the last boss from The Last Blade 2... >_<

Ghouls N' Ghost on the Genesis. That stupid wasp looking thing. Took me 2 hours and God knows how many continues to beat him. And even then, I think it was pure luck. And then the game said I had to play it again to get the ending..... DAMN IT!

Gill from SF3: Third Strike is insanely hard, mainly because of his stupid resurrection special that revives him completely, and cannot be stopped. I hate Gill.

Samurai Shodown 1-Amakusa (Original MVS mode)

    Last Blade 2- Kouryu

Art of Fighting 1- Mr. Karate....

King of the Monsters 2- Final boss, that giant blob...cheap bastard

Rage of the Dragons- Johann....lousy...cheap bastard....ugh god...

Super Ghouls N' Ghosts- The real final boss after the 2nd run when you have obtained the magic ring..

Marvel Vs. Capcom- Onslaught was more challenging then out of all 4 of the MVC series I felt, but he was predictable at times, but without a projectile character, you were screwed I thought

Street Fighter Alpha 2- The "Akuma Mode" for fighting Shin Akuma in the sweet SF2 The Movie background

Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike.....I swear to god, I will kill the man who gave Gill "RESURRECTION!!"

Mega Man X4- Sigma's final form...phew...a bitch to kill if you are Zero

    Mega Man 7- Dr. Wily's Final form...screw this...let's play Mega Man 2

Contra: Shatter Soliders- Which boss wasn't a pain in the ass?

Oh I forgot the all time favorite boss...which I HIGHLY AGREE ON

.....DEATH in CastleVania 1 & 3 and Super CastleVania 4
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

The grim reaper in the original Castlevania. He's easy to wipe out if you have the triple-shot boomerang, but if you don't, you're screwed. I can't believe I ever finished the damn thing; as gppd as the game is, you couldn't make me do that again if you put a gun to my head.

Oh, and I'll second that bumblebee boss in Gn'G. They really used to make games hard as nails, didn't they? Most everything's a cakewalk for 'casual gamers' these days.

Pfft, the birds are nothing. I am the bird master. It's all about memorization and "hacking" the game. The hardest part in the GAME used to be level 6-2 for me, right where the knife throwing bitch is one a small little platform. Well, if you move slightly to the right very slow the monster just DISAPPEARS. Easiest part in the game now ;D.

But as far as hardest boss goes.....hmm....I'm going to have to say the last boss or two in Ligtning Force. Don't exactly remember what they were, but I do remember the PAIN.

But those damn birds in Ninja Gaiden 3!! AAAGGGHHH!!!! NG 1 is easy for me now...I can beat the whole game on one life....Castlevania used to be the same way for me, but I can beat it on one life now too. BTW, if you save your holy water from the beginning of the level and throw it at the brick the Grim Reaper initially lands on, you will kill him without him ever moving or scythes flying about...keep the flame going and he's is THE easiest boss in the game.

Hardest boss...How about the Emerald and Ruby Weapons in FFVII? Those HAVE to be the hardest bosses ever.

The Shinobi series had some pretty tough bosses...

Personally I cannot beat Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts.

I agree with Gill, but he is easier when you hit him while he is regenerating his health, thus keeping him from healing completely.
(so in a way the resurrection can be stopped)

I am 95% sure this is correct, but if it isnt I apologize.
