    Default FDS Error 27?

    So.

I've been playing my Sharp Twin. And I've been loving it.

Up until now, I've had absolutely no problems with it.

However, upon trying to play "Kid Icarus" and "Metroid," I was greeted with an "Err. 27" message.

Let me stress, this has not happened with any of my other six discs. Just these two.

I'm able to load the "Metroid" title screen and the file select screen. I get the "Err. 27" during loading time after the first flip to side B.

"Kid Icarus," however, won't load at all.

Any advice on what I should do? Is this a problem with the machine or the discs?

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks very much!

I'd guess it's the discs, only because Metroid and Kid Icarus share the same game engine. But I have no experience with FDS hardware or software specifically, so I'm just guessing.

Err. 27: Block end mark read and ends prematurely - Game is corrupt or FDS needs repairs.

Not much help but I'm guessing it's the disks.

Sounds like your discs are going bad or demagnetized. In those cases I would suggest you find a way to format and rewrite the games onto the diskettes because those other games of yours are going to get messed up eventually as well.

Or it could be dirt or dust on the surface of the magnetic media itself- cleaning the disk or reading head inside the console could be an option.

    Dammit.

Perhaps I can return them and get others.

    Thanks, everyone.
