This game is beautiful. Right I'm up to world 2-3 and can't think about playing anything else until I beat it.
The person who turned in the pre-owned copy I bought yesterday was obviously an idiot!

Even if I had beaten it, I would still keep it because I've seen more of the levels in a few hours than I have since I bought Metal Slug 3 three months ago!

How different is the game from the online version, because I'm no shelling out >5 dollars for a flashware game. Does it control like crap like the online demo thing?
Absolutely not.Originally Posted by Promophile
Metal Slug clone or no, I think it's a stellar game. I have a few minor complaints, but other than that, I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while.
I too was worried whether or not it would be better than the Flash version, but it's improved greatly in every aspect. The controls are better, the difficulty level is more reasonable - though you'll still burn through your fair share of lives and continues, and the game is packed with charm - much like Metal Slug, there's so much attention to details and nuances in animation that I always see something new every time I play.
Game is right at the top of my current playlist, and I anticipate it staying there for a while.
It's all about Soviet Missile Mastar.

Infinite Lives
i just rented this tonight, and i'm really enjoying it...lots of fun and i'll probably end up picking it up. i can't help to feel that there are some pretty cheap deaths in this game tho...not so much on the bosses as they're all patterns, but just the regular guys in the stages....but then again i got 6 extra lives just after level 1-1 so it kinda makes up for it. and maybe some memorization will cancel that out as well. plus i'm not really that good at these games.
i just need to work on my style points a bit more. the stage select is a nice touch and i'm loving the hats too
is it good!? It freakin rules!!! i love it and me and my friend play 2 player and it
Rocks my socks!

Bringing up a bit of an old topic...
The game seems to have disappeared from a lot of store shelves. I have become rather interested in it over the last few weeks though, and I've been thinking about picking it up. Before I did, I have a few questions:
Can you save after each level / pick a level to start at?
Are there many mini-games?
How many players can play in multi-player?
Is it worth $30.00?
That's all for now. I may pick it up by the end of this week If I can find it sill...

There's no save, but there is a level select for levels you've gotten to befor, and you can pick up the game from there.Originally Posted by goatdan
I think there's a good bit of mini-games, but you have to unlock some of them...you start off with these pda minigames that seemed ok, but i didn't get too into them.
2 players, but I believe there is support for 4 in a few of the minigames
I rented it, and really liked it...but haven't bought it yet. I'd pick it up for $20 in a heartbeat...if you like this genre i'd say it is worth the $30.
you unlock hats...and yes, it is a feature that rocks.
well, thanks for re-sparking my interest in this game...I just picked up the ps2 version off the bay for 22.95 shipped. I had rented it for cube, but was thinking i'd like the ps2 controller better for this game. impulsive buying at its finest :P
I just picked it up for the Cube too. I guess we're in the same boatOriginally Posted by whoisKeel
I bought used on GameStop.com which I _never_ do. I always have to see it in person to guarantee the thing is perfect. It better come complete, or I'll probably forever kick myself

$30? I thought it was $20, I think it was that when I worked at GS...
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
The MSRP is $29.99.
I bought the GC version the last week of December, I think. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but so far so good.
I just picked this one up today. Not a big fan of the Metal Gear series, but this was just so charming, I had to have it. Funnier than Hell. And best of all - $19.99 at TRU. Still had a stack of 'em too.
And - for what it's worth - the clerk said the green tag sale will be coming back very soon.

dont u mean metal slug lol noob
OK now that that's out of the way, I want to respond to you on an animation geek level. The artist behind the great style of this game is Dan Paladin, a great friend of Tom Fulp and legendary Newgrounds.com contributor. Not to mention one of my favorite Flash artists, whee.
His website, when it's up, is www.synj.net
And his most recent contribution to Newgrounds is the rather addictive PEACEPLANE, located here:

When I first heard of this game coming to a console, I didn't know what it was. But I had vaguely heard of it. Never played it. Never saw it in person until it was shown off in a magazine.
Based on the graphics alone, I knew this game would be kick ass. It's my kind of art style.
I just played it on Flash just now. First time ever playing it. Seriously. This was one internet craze I somehow missed.
I read the console version has so much more added to it including better effects. I can't wait to get this. I just haven't been to a game store in so long. Next time i go out though, I will see if I can't pick it up.
Even though I haven't played the console version yet, I am still hoping for a sequel and a PSP port.
TRU has it for $19.99 now, I believe.
