    Default Dont Forget to ASSk.

I was just wondering, have you ever been in this situation, or something like it?

Okay, your at a garage sale, and you dont see anything big. Some clothes, old stuff, just crap. You are about to walk away, and think of asking somebody if they have any games. You ask the person in charge, and they say something like "oh, yeah we've been trying to get rid of our old atari for years." and they bring out an old 2600 with about 50 games!!! You walk away with it for about 10 bucks. has this ever happened to you?

I told them I sold it for money to buy video games.

Yeah I remember asking a lady if she had any nes games for sale cause she had Playstation stuff out, she produces a Final Fantasy cart and a system.
Lady-" One dollar for the game, and 5 bucks for the system, cause I cant get it to work, and I think the game is busted."

Me-"Ok, I guess I'll take the system, and the busted game"

Of course, I got it home, and both worked fine.

This actually happened to my brother not too long ago at a yard sale. He didn't see anything and asked if they had any video games. The guy told him he had an old atari in the basement. Well, it was a colecovision with an expansion mod #1 and quite a few games. My brother grabbed the whole lot for $3. Lucky bastard.

I ask 'em at garage sales all the time and I've had a few bring out some gaming stuff so don't be shy to ask 'em. Most people don;t even realise that they have old games tucked away until you say something. The best I've found after asking was a complete 5200 system in box with about 20 or so carts. Although that was pre-ebay days.

It never hurts to ask, but I do't usually get good results from it.

I tried asking, but never got results. However, thanks to E-Bay people are pricing their stuff close to what you see online with "oh, it goes for that much online" as a response to queries.

Besides, rummage sales pretty much suck where I live.

I KNOW!! i stopped at a garage sale a while back, and heard the people running it talking about an old atari. i asked them what they were talking about, and they were saying they were trying to sell a 2600. Some woman took it out, and it was the system, with 2 joysticks, hookups, and around 20 games. I started the bidding at 5 bucks. they wanted FIFTY!!! there were no boxes, or instructions, and they wanted fifty bucks for the damn thing!!! I got up to 25, and they still stood their ground. I asked them, why so much? and they said "we could even get more than fifty on that internet auction thingy." Yeah right!!! i was pretty pissed, and stormed outta there.

I ask at EVERY garage sale I go to. I've only seen old vdeo game stuff out once...every other time, I've had to ask. It's a good thing I guess. Most people don't bother asking. :P

Answer to that: "then why are you selling it at a garage sale next to the .25 cent puked stained baby jumper?"
