Default Which Gex port is better, PS1 or Saturn?

I have Gex on the 3DO, and I think it is definitely one of the best 3DO games, and it should be experienced on the 3DO, but I do think that both the playstation and saturn versions of Gex have 2 advantages.

    1. Better Controller
    2. RGB video

The 3DO controller sucks and seeing GEX in RGB would be sweet. I'm just curious if one of these particular versions is much better than the other.

I assume I would like the Saturn controller better for that game.

I actually liked it better on Saturn (which is what I have, plus the 3DO version), though it's been quite a while since I played it on the Playstation.

It should be noted though, that most game controls on the Saturn suck if you use the standard controller (especially the trigger buttons). I prefer the Eclipse pad or the 3D Saturn controller instead.

Wow, haha, never thought I'd see Saturn Gex discussed on these boards but I guess that goes to show you the wide diversity of gamers here. Gex on Saturn has always intrigued me. It's not what I'd called a great or even very good game. It seems like a derivitate (sp) clone which steals bits from here and there... but it's playable, and somewhat enjoyable. It's one of many Saturn games I will one day sit down with and really get a hunkering out of it.

Those are full-3D, and thus totally different from the Saturn game being discussed. They're all quite funny, true, but they're still just derivative platform games in the vein of Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie.

Gex, then, seems to translate as "unoriginal but good."

The PSX has password saving which is a big downer for me. The 3DO version saves to internal memory (although you have to find those crummy videotapes in both versions...that's why the game is only borderline great IMO).

Never have played the Saturn version.

Anthony1, there are some decent 3DO controllers if you look. There is also a converter that will allow you to use SNES controllers.

I think the PC version is available at Underdogs if you want to try it out.
