Default Recommend some good baseball games.

I want to start playing some baseball games (It's the only other sport I love *now* other than golf) I tried little league for NES and it wasn't bad but the music was annoying and trying to catch a ball in the field was tough since you can't tell where you are. What are some good baseball games for any system other than Ps2 GC and XBox because I don't own them as of yet. I am only looking for quick games and not one to play a whole series on, just to have some fun. So what are the good ones.
If they made a movie out of your top five worst sins, what would it be rated?

I recommend SNK's Baseball Stars series on the NES. I love the RPGish team/skill building, but there are plenty of pre-assembled teams for quick games. It's one of the only sports games I own. IMO the best 8-bit baseball game.

One issue is it's cost, at the game retailers that carry classic games I've seen them sell for $10-$20 ($10-$15 for 1, $15 - $20 for 2). About four months ago I got a loose one off eBay for $.99 bid + $3 S&H so It can be had cheaper

Another baseball game I recommend is also on the NES, Basewars. Think of it as baseball if it were played by battlebots, exept these robots are actually cool! The gameplay isn't top notch but you can't deny the fun this game puts out. Possibly the best aspect of this game is eliminating the other teams players.

I always thought it would be sweet if Mega Man made an apperance in this game, as a pitcher (the pitchers fire the steel ball at the batter with a cannon mounted simular to the blue bombers

I put this game up there with the Mutant League series on the Genny. They are very simular in play though Mutant League is better IMO. No Mutant Leage Baseball game... how sad But thats comparing apples/oranges (read, 8-bit/16-bit). I've seen Basewars in the $3-$5 range, I wouldn't look to eBay for this one.

    Swing for the fences!

There is no substitute for NES Baseball Stars. One of the best games on any platform.

All-Star Baseball 2001 for N64 is one of my favorites - the highpoint of the series. Also, the first Ken Griffey Baseball on SNES was really good.

when you get the Gamecube DEFINATELY pick up Home Run King.

as for right now, the best games that look great and have substance are the RBI baseball series. my favorite is RBI '93 for Sega Genesis. but the ones for NES are pretty good too.

Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 for SNES, still the only Baseball game I'll ever need.

Super Bases Loaded. It ca be awkward at first, but just give it some practice. Right up there with Baseball Stars IMO. Also, check out the last High Heat, 2003 I think.

I'll second Drexel923's nomination of RBI Baseball. I was never really able to get into Baseball Stars that much. In fact, any Namco baseball game (from what I've played) is really good.

The only console baseball games I own are Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball and Super Baseball 2020, both for SNES. Both are pretty good in my book. Think of Super Baseball 2020 as an update of sorts to Basewars.

    R.B.I. Baseball 3 - NES
Tecmo Super Baseball (granted once you get used to the controls it's very good!) - SNES
    Triple Play XX - GEN
Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball (love the pitching engine! you can't change the direction of the pitch after it's selected, and you have to adjust your bullpen and even THEY have a meter for 'warming up'!~) - SNES/GEN/PSX

I second Baseball Stars. It's the true ancestor to today's baseball simulation games, not just arcade-style pick-n-play games. And actually, you can just pick-n-play if you prefer, but the most fun is to create your own team and give it attributes (with the cash you earn over wins, you can improve your players' skills). It was probably the first baseball game to offer league play instead of single games only. You can even fire your players if they underperform!

I also liked Tecmo SUper Baseball but I noticed once that, no matter how hard I tried, there was one guy on the team I played that could never get a hit. I don't know if it was a bug or that I sucked only when I had that character up at bat. Baseball Stars for the NES, the first Ken Griffey Jr. game for SNES and Super Baseball 2020 for the SNES are ones I also enjoyed. I also liked All-Star Baseball for the N64...'99 is the one I've usually played. I never liked Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run on SNES, though, as I have never managed to play that game right...never got any hits, always gave them up in bunches.
