I need a pic of the cable for my accessory and peripheral guide on my site. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?
I would also appreciate any info on how it works.
Thanks!
OK, but it's got Cable for Zero Tolerance! :P
Interesting...I wasn't even aware of a half decent shooter for the Genesis. I'll be buying a copy shortly!
If no link cable exists, it still should hopefully be possible just to take two spare Genny controllers and splice a Genesis-Genesis cord out of them...unless there's a capacitator or something else inside that's necessary to include, it should work.
what is it?

Here's a pic...
To use it you need 2 copies of the game and 2 Genesis units, each hooked up to it's own TV. The cable is plugged into the 2nd controller port of each unit, and when you start up each game, your player appears on the other player's screen. (You can also use a Nomad because of it's 2nd controller port!)
You can then play the game cooperatively, or have a primitive Deathmatch if you so desire. I love Zero Tolerance and think it is amazing what they packed into this cart...scaling, huge numbers of sprites, huge levels and dozens of them. With the possible exception of Gunstar Heroes, I think ZT takes the Genesis closest to it's graphical limit.
From blowing a baddie's guts onto a wall and watching them slooowly slide down, to spinning around and torching a horde of creepy-crawlies chasing you down the corridor, it's great fun, and a great shooter.

It's no Rise of the Triad, but yeah, the sliding/floating blood is pretty awesome.
As far as the link cable goes, hey hey, just what I thought it'd be! Somebody could make a mint off silly collectors splicing together two Genesis controllers :P (maybe I'd be one of them? >:)
Now it makes you wonder how that setup would work...two TVs...two Genesis units, in between? Everything would be too short otherwise.
Like how it's not just split-screen, though...if that counts for anything.
Too bad the character portraits don't animate, ala Wolf 3D - or especially DOOM.
Game could've used two shoulder pads, big time. Still, the ability to strafe, jump, and duck is cool - all of those controlled by one button! You can also sort of strafe-jump, too.
My biggest complaint is that the enemies go streaking by...I don't mind the Corridor-7 style lack of collision with enemies, but rather the SPEED at which enemies can zoom right past you, blasting at your back while you feebly turn around. This game could've used a special controller.
And finally...this game isn't nearly as good looking as DOOM is on the SNES, but this game doesn't use any Super FX chip. Much better looking that Duke Nukem 3D by Tec Toy, for sure!
Comment on the speed of enemies though...while I HATE taking "unnecessary" hits, the gun's ability to hit anything (at least with Capt. Ishii) you were or weren't vaguely aiming at is pretty darn useful!
well guys.... I had one, but after tearing my place apart, Looks like i misplaced it. I never even got a chance to use it...
My pleasure...how about a link to your site?

It looks really similar to a genesis controller extension cable, and could probably be easily made out of one or two of those.

You would definitely need two as the extension cable is male to female, and the link cable is male to male.Originally Posted by SkiDragon

Nice! I remember seeing an ad for that. Would definitely be cool to have, and I agree, this is an underrated shooter.
I have one, and the funniest part is where I got it. I called Accolade about 4 years after the game had come out, because the copy I had just bought new at somewhere had a addendum about the link cable. After getting switched around for about 20 minutes, I got hold of someone that new what the hell I was talking about. He said they had a box of them in the back of the office, and they were free...how many would I like? Lol, I said as many as you can send me....I got 10 of them! (and no, I only have 2 left now).
It does plug into joystick port two on each machine, and then you need two games, two tvs, two consoles. It is pretty cool though.
There are 4 Neo Geo carts that can be linked as well, the link cable actually plugs into a jack ON the carts themselves. I have this as well as two copies of all 4 carts.
