    Default Silent Hill 2...HELP!

I'm currently in the hospital and I'm trying to open Joseph's supremely trapped box. I got all the locks off except I still need to do the "tern the numbers" one. The only problem is that I can't read the numbers written on the blood-stained wall. They just don't look like numbers to me. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I've tried every combination the message somewhat resembles and I still can't get it open. (I'm playing easy level, btw.) I know the combination is randomized, and it's driving me up the wall because I can't get any further.

Is there a place online that shows a pic of what these numbers are supposed to be? I don't want to spend three days trying every single possible four-digit combination.

I haven't gotten that far in the game, but this is what the strategy guide says:

"First, combine the Purple Bull and Lapis Eye Keys and use them to remove the chains and unlock the actual box. Now use the code you copied from the carbon paper in Examination Room 3 to remove the push-button lock. Use the code from the wall in the Special Treatment Room to remove the turn combination lock. You are now ready to learn Louise's secret..."

Let me know if that helps.

Lol, that's the problem. The code that's written on the wall isn't legible, at least to me. I think it's saying 9571 but any variation of it isn't working.

    This is driving me nuts!

I remember having the exact same problem when I played through Silent Hill 2 last year. I ended up manually entering in every possible combination over the period of several days.

If I remember correctly you have to get the code somewhere else. I think it was in the little office near the entrance.

You can try this link to some good FAQs:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/30429.html

In looking through some of them, it looks like the code is generated randomly, so yours will be different from everyone elses.

Good luck squinting at those bloody numbers!

"Enter the second door from the left on the north wall to find yourself in a padded cell. Investigate the blood on the wall to find a 4-digit number. You now have the combination to the fourth lock on the box. This number is random, so it will not be listed here."

Try starting on the opposite dial (what you thought was the 1st dial may be the LAST dial!) You're on the easy version, right? The bloody numbers get harder to read in higher difficulty levels!

Hooray! I finally got it. Turns out my code was 9595. What completely threw me was that the last two digits looked NOTHING like the first two! I turned up the brightness level too and that helped a teeny, tiny bit, but if I had this much problem in the easy level I think I'm royally screwed when I try to play it again at a harder level!

    Thanks for the help.
