But who here has ever actually OWNED one? Who here still has a working console?

In all my life, I never knew a single person who did. Not one.

I did, but only a few years ago when I thought I wanted to collect everything. Then as I realized I don't have the money or room to do that, I shifted focus to collecting things I would actually PLAY. It was interesting to have and play with from a historical point of view, but there was no enjoyment here. Probably the worst of the old consoles. I even prefer the Channel F over this thing. More games and better controllers too.

I have one and a game, hooked it up once to see if it worked, haven't touched it since.

Scored it on ebay for 10 bucks with everything and a nice looking box.

I had one and 3 boxed games for it a few years ago, but never scrounged up a TV switchbox for it. I traded it away at PhillyClassic 4, I think (maybe 3), for not very much, if I recall correctly.

I have a boxed console and all the comercially released games. I have also sold 2 or 3 of them. I love it. I like to pretend it's from the 50's though, because then it seems cutting edge. I would love to get some of the foreign versions of it that are supposed to have color output. I don't know anyone that has one of those though.

I picked one up at a yard sale LONG before my career as a collector began. It was some time in the mid 80s. I bought the console and a few carts for a dollar.

As I remember it, it wasn't quite as bad as SoulBlazer makes it out to be. It was certainly no substitute for a 2600, but the games were at least playable. My brother and I had some fun with it for a few weeks.

I don't recall exactly what happened to it. We moved around 1986 (I was a teenager at the time) to a different house in the same neighborhood, but I don't believe the Studio II made the trip. It was commonplace in those days for people to simply throw old videogame systems and carts away.

Well Aswald, now you know lots of people who own one. I bet that's not too surprising. I've got at least three of them in the original packaging (which is one of the coolest and most retro of any game system ever).

The system is pretty bad, and I'm the kind of person who can find good in just about anything. The controls built into the console is reminiscent of dedicated consoles, and worse - the animation of the games is by FAR the worst of any videogame system. Things "jump" from one X/Y coordinate to another - they really don't move like the sprites we remember from the 70's and 80's.

And yet, it's that very fact that makes the system unique and one of the best conversation pieces any gamer could ever own. It's the perfect example of "look at how far we've come".

In all of my scrounging of yard sales, pawn shops, etc...., I have never even seen a Studio II. I know they aren't that hard to find, and they aren't expensive but I still have never seen one. :/

I picked up one on ebay for about $19. If you get one make sure it comes with the original switch box. The system is powered through the switch box.

To give you an idea of how bad the games are I liked blackjack the best. You don't need very good graphis for a card game.

All said though it is worth having. It shows that they really had no idea about how to design video games systems at the start.

I have one with all but four of the games, and mine is literally dead. I don't know if I will get another.
