Is it just me or does the cover of the box look uber faded? I know it looks like drawing without any large areas of solit color, but the parts that I assume would be black look blue or gray. Maybe it is just the photo. Still more than what I would pay.
Condoleezza Rice is nice, but I prefer A Roni!

I saw that the other day and started laughing in seconds. Whoever is bidding on that must have millions of dollars to waste, or is in need of mental help. You could buy a mint complete copy for $50 or so for gods sakes.

Holy Piss Bat-Man. Why do sealed copies of that game sell for so much?

    Nah, it's Arkhound

I've seen the box art before, but it's striking how similar it looks to the artwork from previous Contra games...except they were futuristic. The stuff you actually see matches the game quite well, and what's more sort of matches the previous Contra games, as they had helicopters and other current-day stuff (sort of that future-is-like-today-only-falling-down theme of the oldschool Contra games) in them.

If this game was more playable...eh.

Another of this guy's auctions (rather on the high end I'd say, actually):

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8147700437

Yep, it's definitely just a few games that get so much money.

I'd personally be happy to get a minty, like new copy of Contra Force, but I wouldn't want the trouble and headache of having a "sealed" copy and having to defend it as such forevermore.

Why is it all American Nintendo games only come with that skanky shrinkwrap? All PAL ones come with thick cellophane with red tear strips, so there isn't any doubting wheter or not a game is factory sealed...

And how come only Nintendo have the technology to put that seam down the back of their games? Heat wrapping machines are quite common, and people reseal games everyday...

The machines game stores use tend to put different seals on games, besides you have disinterested teenagers running them...I must say that I totally want that PAL Metroid though :)

I don't see how there would be less of them than any other common title seeing as how Contra is more than likely Konami's best-selling NES game.

And an FYI for you sealed NES enthusiasts: Did you know that the first run of Mattel-distributed NES games in Canada weren't sealed: They had one round black sticker with the word "Nintendo" in silver on it. This sticker kept the top flap taped shut. This is the reason why it is very common to see a semi-curcular shaped rip at the top of the front of Canadian first-party games.

The auction is for Contra Force, not Contra, to clear that up.
