Default Which is the best Ghosts n' Ghouls version?

    Hey All,
Recently I acquired a Commodore 128d and a bunch of Commodore 64 discs. I played Ghosts n' Goblns on my 128 and have it for the Atari ST. Also coming In the mail is my Wonderswan B&W version of this game called Makiarma or something like that.

I'd just like to know which console has the best version of Ghosts n' Ghouls? I'm thinking of getting more versions of this game. I really like the C64 version of this game the best so far.

    Regards,

    Nubian.

You mean Ghouls'N Ghosts, I assume.

I always liked the Genesis version. I would say the MAME version is the most accurate, though.

The SNES one is really nice, hard as nails though.

Yeah, The C64 version and the Atari ST version are very difficult too. I gave it a decent play for a little while and didn't get very far at all.

i'm going to go with the SNES version as well. although, i've never beat it. you have to go through the game twice, then beat the end boss with this super shitty weapon. i can't beat the boss with that super shitty weapon...

The WOnderswan version is pretty good, but is plagued by being plaed on a system with a not-so-sharp screen.

I enjoyed the GBA version the most as it had some nice saving features.

I'm partial to the NES version. It was the first game I remember playing on the NES. Also the only time I ever got my mouth washed out with soap. I was playing it when i was like 9 and I died on the third level with those stupid little flying demons. I died and I yelled out "shit." I got the liquid soap for that one *shudder*

Assuming you're referring to Ghosts 'N Goblins and not Ghouls 'N Ghosts:

I've always been partial to the NES version as well. I love how Arthur without his armor is the most nimble, pathetic looking "hero" of all time. He's deathly skinny, and he doesn't even have any eyes. Has anyone else noticed that his eye socket is just a hole in his head? When I was a kid I would sometimes get bored while playing and just start looking for things in the background to line up with the hole in his head. -Yes, I was a weird kid.

Capcom Generations Vol. 2 (Import for Saturn or PSX)...The Ghosts N' Goblins Trilogy...a perfect Ghouls N' Ghosts port right here

But the best verisons by itself

Genesis or the Super Grafx 16 (import only)

but Ghosts N' Goblins (Which Im amusing you are mentioning, since you are talking about a C64)

The NES verison or Capcom Generations Vol. 2
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

I'd choose the SNES version as well. I think the gameplay was more polished than the other versions.

I finished it in the 2-3 first days I got it, but then again that was how long most SNES games would last me back then, considering I used to play in 10-12 hour sessions. :P

x68K; it's arcade perfect and you get a huge range of x68K joysticks to choose from. It's either that, or the Capcom Generations disc. Added bonus of computer monitor sharpness versus S-Video on a PlayStation.

Is the GnG for the SMS more or less an 8-bit version of the SNES?

The SNES never got Ghouls 'n Ghosts - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the name for Chomakaimura outside Japan, and it's totally different - double jump and stuff. The SMS game is itself pretty different from the other ports of Ghouls 'n Ghosts, but the oddly placed level exits make it cool. Thumbs up in my book.

Better than that four-FPS port of Golden Axe, for sure.

I'm partial to the Genesis Ghouls 'n' Ghosts over Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts for the SNES... Super GnG looks great, but it's just too hard for my tastes, not to mention the whole 'no shooting up' fiasco. It's still a good game, but I find GnG has a better level of playability, and the Genesis version is a great and easily obtainable port.

Well, never being able to shoot on a diagonal seems pretty artificial, as well. I suppose there's times when shooting up is a help, but...not that often. Super G'nG just threw out an underutilized segment.

Super Ghouls N' Ghosts gets my vote as the best. Also...I friggin HATED the Saturn Capcom Generations...worst game collection ever for one simple reason. Compressed screen! I tried to play it and it drove me nuts...the screen's all squooshed to fit the Generations logos and stuff...sooo lame.

The version for the SuperGrafx is very good as is the port on the X68000.
