Default How much have you paid on average for current-gen games?

The other day, out of complete boredom, I thought about all the current-gen games I owned. I got to wondering how much I've paid on average. So I decided to calculate an average for each current-gen console I own (PS2 and Gamecube).

I've paid 13.42 per GC game (I currently own 25), $8.71 per PS2 game (currently own 35), and $8.69 per GBA game (currently own 7). Not bad. I haven't calculated an average for everything overall, though. I'll have to do that.

I'm wondering what other DP'ers have paid on average. If you dare, post your average per system and overall. You don't have to calculate an exact average like I did (an estimate will be fine).

I would estimate that my over all average would be about $12 or 13. I generally pay $10-20 per game, and very rarely does a game go above or below that price point.

I can't estimate an average for each system because all of the next gen games I buy are in the above price range, so it would be about the same for each console.

I would actually sit down and calculate it, but some games I get for free and others I get for $5, and one I paid $50 for, and it's 11:27pm and a rented copy of Halo 2 is sitting in my Xbox.

EDIT* Digitalspace, your overall average for the above three systems is $10.27

The most I have paid for any of my Xbox titles was $19.99, and I think I did that twice - GTA Double Pack and NBA 2K5. If you count GTA seperately, as well as Jet Grind Radio Future / Sega GT and Star Wars Clone Wars / Tetris Worlds as two games apiece, you'd probably get $8.00ish. Counting them all as one game would be closer to $12.00.

My real cheapies were Sphinx for $3.00, JGRF/SGT for $4.00, an Outlaw sampler for $4.00 and ST:CW/TW for $5.00. Everything else was pretty much $9.99.

i hover around 15-20 range since there are no mom and pop stores that i know of and i end up buy at gamestop.

very very very few games i paid more that 20 for, some that come to mind are wind waker (full 50 and i was extremely dissapointed good thing i got that other zelda disk with it) and mario DS (30)

on average id say about 17.

oh and since i buy only new gba games, the average is probably a straight 29 bucks or so.

i buy games for older systems and systematically pay around 40 bucks though.

    GBA avarage € 37,- (10 games)
    NGC avarage € 27,- (21 games)
    PS2 avarage € 32,50 (17 games)
    Xbox avarage € 25,- (4 games)

For the GBA i bought most of my games in the first month after launch, that's why the avarage is a bit high. I barley use the system now so i don't buy anymore games for it (at least not in the past year). By the PS2 games GTA and Gran Turismo games bumping the avarage a bit higher because i must have those games at launch at any price

I buy most of the "Big hit" titles for 50 new because I pre-order them to get the promo crap. Other then that 5-20 per game.

If it wasn't for two Steel Battalions costing me £250 each, my average would be a lot lower. But then I have probably 200 current gen games (Spread accross PS2, Xbox, and Cube) so I suppose the average is lowered by quantity...

I hardly ever buy from a shop, so therefore hardly ever pay full price for a game anyway.

Id say roughly about £15 - £20 each (Considering hey are always factory sealed)

most of my games are acquired by trading a bunch of crappy games that i buy for less than $5.

i would say games that i actually purchase average about $30 (these are usually games that i really want or are not easily found in the wild)
Eyes - Pete and Pete, Bullet Ballet
Ears - Exploding Hearts , Tattle Tales
Hands - Neutopia II, NBA Live 05

Well, it's certainly nice that software has come down in price over the past few years.

I'm actually becoming quite miserly towards my next gen systems. On average I won't pay more than $30, sometimes $40 for a game....Canadian money. I'll pay higher for a game like Gran Turismo 4....but price drops happen so fast now that I'll wait a lesser title out.

Well, Hmmm, I can't figure out 100% definately, but I have bought SO MANY games for 2-3-4-5.00 each that I'd say my average is about 8.00-10.00. I've got some 50.00 games in there, and some 20.00 games. Average is very low

Probly around $20 - but I almost religiously play RPG's and strategy games, which you're never gonna find for $20. so while MOST of my games I buy at the $10-$20 range, I can't help but buy some games (Atlus/Square/Enix) at $35-$45.

I'm more or less the same nowadays. Though for Titles I think maybe become rare or harder to find I sometimes spend full price.

I'll be at 290 Gamecube games witin the next week and my per game average is around $10, with over 85% of the games purchased new. Fortunately, I decided to go for the entire library back in February just before Circuit City started their first clearance promotion, so between CC, Best Buy, EB, Toys R Us, KB Toys and K Mart clearances, I managed to stick to my rule of new & under $10 for quite a while before caving recently and filling holes with pre-owned, top condition titles in the $7 range. Only major exception price-wise in the last few months was Donkey Konga, which I snagged for $40 with a $5 Best Buy coupon and a $5 Reward Zone certificate.

Probably about 15-20 for me. The few times that I've actually payed $50 for a game have been such bad experiences that I almost totally refuse to buy any game for over $30 now. Stuff that I want I'll pay $30 for - but above that and it has to be something I really, really, really want.

$5 to $10 on average. $20 is the highest I'll go.

Up until my newspaper didn't need a game journalist anymore, I used to get all the new releases from EA, Microsoft, Sony, and THQ for free. They contracted a news wire service, so it'll be only demos and promotional items now.
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
