Default The "I hate FPS and sports games" thread

That's right you moral majority. If you hate these two genres of games, post here and why you hate them. *Ducks and covers from incoming flames*

    I hate FPS because
1.) it's old and well-worn out genre. Sure, you can say the same for fighters and puzzlers and other games, but I think they've done everything they can do with this tired genre.

2.) It's too popular. Every sum-a-bitch from casual gamers to wanna-be army brats play it, and that seems to be all they play *cough*Counterstrike, Halo*cough*

3.) Controls are messed up. MadCatz trackball/flight stick combo for DC was perfect for these games. I just don't like using a keyboard/mouse. Regular controllers are even worse.

    4.) I suck at FPS.
    I hate Sports because
1.) I'm not a huge enough sports nerd.

    2.) It's a non-gamers genre.

3.) If you wanna play sports, join a team.

    4.) Re-selling games gets you a nickel.
You don't have to be smart, you don't have to have all the facts, you just have to be confident.

Yeah, I hate alot of FPS and sports games too, but there are some good ones. Metroid Prime is just awesome and it isn't like all of the other FPS games, you should check that one out if you haven't yet. And as for sports, I enjoy them, but am not a huge die hard fan, so I enjoy simulation sports games like NBA Street and NFL Street that are less realism and more video game.

Well I hate RPGs, but I don't feel the need to stir up stuff for the sake of it. If you dig around older posts, you'll find plenty of dead horses waiting to be beaten about the same subjects (FPS/Sports games).

    FPS's are to me.

Half the time my problem with them is when I die, I just fall down and kaput! Due to the 3Dishness nature of it, so many times when I get killed I have ZERO idea how it happened.

I mean of course I know someone shot me from behind, or I got sniped, or whatever.. but there really is no satisfaction of SEEING what happened to you unless you happen to be facing it. At least in most games you see why you died. In an FPS, it's not unusual to be walking somewhere and kaput, you're dead. Time to "respawn" with no clue what happened :P The last thing I saw was some corner of a room or some wall.

I hate sports because its so overrated. Lets play footlball in the street, lets beat each other up for the ball or lets add another team to the game: This is really why I hate sports. They use those three things I mentioned and thats all the really add. (aside for the plays and cheats)

FPS: they havnt been good since Doom 2....probably the most worn out genre ever.

i hate sports games, because if you want to play basketball, or football, GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY IT DAMMIT! i cant go outside, and beat the shit out of people in a fighting tournament, or pilot a plane and fight giant mother ships that spurt 100 bullet barrages at me in real life, but dammit if i wanna throw a stupid basketball at a hoop , i walk outside and do it!

    I like FPS (mostly PC)

But, sports on the other hand. Bleck. Sure, there are a few 'arcade-y' type games that are cool, but most of them are just plain crap. Yeah, lets pay $50 every year over and over for slightly better graphics, more up to date rosters, and some minor 'change in gameplay'!

    No. Thanks.

I love most FPS games and some Sports titles. Only the wacky ones though. Outlaw Golf, Mario Tennis, etc.

I suppose that I'm a bit fatigued about all of the FPS games myself. The thing is, when you first play a FPS as a wee lad, you're like OMFG TIHS IS TEH COOL3ST~!!11@1!. You then exist in this demented state for anywhere from 3 to 10 years. By the time you realize that you've already played the same game from the same tired genre over and over again, there are several younger gamers to replace you. And they are saying OMFG TIHS IS TEH COOL3ST~!!11@1! This is why the same damn game from the same tired genre will be produced by game companies over and over and over and over. Because for game companies MAKING MONEY IS TEH COOL3ST.

    Well, color me obvious.

Oh, and sports games? I'd say that those are just for morons, but somebody would probably point out that I'm wrong about that. :P

To see their own faces and buddies on the screen

I like some FPS games but can only play them on PCs with real a keyboard and mouse. As for sports, I'll pick up the latest and greatest every three years or so when they're a few years old. Baseball is my favorite to play on a console.

I like a good FPS. I don't care for the rush of Vietnam games that we've seen lately, and I was SO disappointed by Halo 2 that they can stuff any thoughts that they may have of releasing a 3rd Halo back onto the shelf. I sure as hell won't waste my money on it.

Sports games. I normally don't buy mainstream ones. I DO buy tennis, golf, volleyball. However, I recently bought a bundle of DC games and it included all of the basketball, football and baseball games that the DC saw. I fired each one up just to check the discs....and came to the realization that, yes, I will in fact spend time learning to play these great looking games. Not a sports fan.....but soon might be.
