This sounds like an excellent deal! I'll definately go to a retail store that is doing the 2 controller deal seeing as my sister is always up for a 2 player beating on the good old Genesis.

I paid $70 for a used GC back in February. I usually see them going for anywhere from $60-80 at pawn shops and game stores outside of the major chains.

The lowest I've ever seen one for is $25 for an Indigo console at a pawn shop around the same time I got time. I think there was something wrong with it and that's why it was priced so low. I don't exactly remember if that was the case, though.

That makes me glad I got a Jet Black console.

The shocker of the Cube's value dropping below $50 comes as no surprise lately...the Cube feels like the Dreamcast of the mid-00's
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!

i have yet to see a cube or PS2 hit the thrift/ flea scene, no doubt if its a mom seller she'll want at least $100 for it. seen a few used xboxes going for around $100, probably from some idiot who maxed out his credit card and needs cash badly.

the last gen consoles really are piling up though, pity the playstation, nobody is buying them thanks to ps2 backward comp.

    Just a general note:

I was in Best Buy today, thinking about getting a GameCube. Had I found two games at $10.00 that I really wanted, I would've. Alas, I found zero games that I really wanted at that price, so I walked out without it...

Here's what I don't get. Hiding in the back was their final Mario KartD with two controller package that I pulled out. They also had the Metriod Prime bundle, as well as new non-packaged Purple, Black and Platnium systems.

Why the hell are they all the same price? Seriously, if Nintendo is going to keep stocking the stores with these "no extras" packages, the least they could do is drop the price on them by $10 or $20 bucks. If I was a shopper and found out that I had paid $99.99 for my new "Limited Edition" Platnium GameCube, I would be really pissed to see the MK: DD thing selling for the same price at the same store a day later.

At least with the Xbox, I don't see them trying to sell the ones without the pack-in games for the same price as those with it.

They're just bundles. When the bundles are gone and the holidays are over, they'll be returning to plain Cubes. No reason to lower the price. Just be happy they don't charge MORE for the bundles.

If that's the deal, they should advertise that it is a limited time offer only. I don't think this is the case though. The Metriod Prime bundles were out for a while before that, and now the MKD bundle. Something tells me Nintendo isn't going to sell more consoles after the holiday if they make them less attractive.

We'll have to see what they do after the holidays, but the MKD one is indeed a "Holiday Bundle" meaning quite simply it is only here for the Holidays. Same as Microsoft's current NCAA/Top Spin bundle or Sony's... er, last years Xvbox Tetris/Clone bundle and the previous Sega GT/JSRF one and you get the idea. Holiday Bundle = Temporary gone after the holiday stock runs out.

You will be able to buy every current system for $10 in the future.. It's just the way things are.

Did you know: An Ant reaches its top speed after 3" and no matter how high it's dropped from, it won't die.

Very interesting fact. I can just imagine researchers dropping ants of the empire state building.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that there are likely more used GameCubes kicking around than PS2 and XBox systems? A PS2 is A LOT more likely to crap out than a GameCube, and XBox is to a lesser extent as well. Joe Shmoe may still have his GameCube around by the time he gets sick of it, but his PS2 died a long time ago. The PS2 goes in the trash, while the GameCube is sold off at GameStop.

Anyway, I got a nice older black console that we bought when it was $150. I'm also pleased with the platinum version I bought this past summer with 2 controllers, 2 games, and a memory card for $40. I think I was more interested in the two controllers in great shape than anything else. o_O I'm sure eventually all of the stuff I purchased will be worth less than $40 together, but for now, I think it's pretty damn nice.

You guys need to watch Spike TV more often. It was on a show two weeks ago called "Hey! Spring of Trivia." a Japanese show full of trivia noone ever knew before. They did a test. Poor ant. They dropped him from so many heights. First a few inches. er, Centimeters. (The text on the screen is Japanese and in cm, the voiceover translates it to Inches and Feet.) Then a few feet, then from the top of a Hockey Rink. The ant just would not die. Amazing. Sometimes I bet you all wish you were ants.

Very weird show, but I did learn a lot I never knew, or knew I even wanted to know. Did you know Mozart composed a song whose name translates to "Lick My Ass"? ("Leck mich im Arsch") Or that, now get this, the Sphinx looks directly across the desert at a KFC. (With a Pizza Hut up stairs above the KFC.)

    I love Trivia.

    Anyway, back on topic.
