To me 'Mint' has something to do with condition, not completeness. So you can have a 'Mint' copy of a manual although the packaging and the game are missing, but in this case the front cover has been faded by sunlight, so that explanation doesn't make much sense in this case
I guess 'Mint ' is one of those mandatory Ebay words like 'Rare', 'Super Rare', Extremely Rare', 'One of a kind', etc, etc
I agree. The descriptive word "mint" is in no way related to the completeness of a set. It simply describes the visual condition of the items that are available.
I agree but then by that description the game disks themselfs could be "Mint" but the front cover is not. When I think of "Mint" I think of ice creamOriginally Posted by Zing

"Mint" is a ridiculous, meaningless word when it comes to eBay and video games.
Ask a coin collector. Mint means one thing.. uncirculated and sealed (i.e. straight from the "MINT").
So therefore.. to me.. the only "mint" game is a factory sealed one; never opened. Plain & simple.
Whenever I see anyone describe anything less than that as mint.. it's a lie.
There are much better "adjectives" to describe any component of a game that looks new: excellent, great, flawless.
In describing my games (see my collection) my mint ones are only my unopened ones. But I'm just picky and conservative that way. In fact; my next grade down is "brand new". Brand new to me is opened, but totally unplayed. If I describe something as brand new it means either I had to buy it and open it; or if it was bought by me and a cart it must have NO saves in slots that are undeletable.. that way.. I can only say for sure a game is brand new. If I buy a CD game and it looks unplayed; I still can't call it brand new technically because I don't know it's been played or not.
Everything less than the above is then:
excellent
good
average
fair
and poor.
There is no "Very Good" in my grading system.
