Default Japan/US games that are exactly the same

I just scored a Japanese copy of that most godlike of football games, Tecmo Super Bowl. The thing is, other than the lack of the "Licensed By Nintendo" tag we all know and love, it's the exact same game. In English. Hell, the cover is derived from the same photo as the US version, and I'm pretty sure the screen shots on the back of the box are the same, too. So, has anyone ever found a game like this? (Reverse brownie points for anyone who mentions an NES game available at launch.)

Wouldn't it be the other way around? Tecmo being a Japanese company and such.

Can't say I've run across too many games like that; I've seen tons that are more or less the exact same game data though.

Perhaps, but how many foreign nations are you aware of that actually play football?

A number of US games during the SNES era were released in Japan without being translated. I've got the Super Famicom Rock n Roll Racing by Interplay and that's all in English still.

Hah, yeah I was gonna say Tecmo Super Bowl. There's also the original Tecmo Bowl I believe that fits into this catergory.

Actually, there's a Tecmo Bowl ROM floating around the 'net with '89 rosters that's believed to be the Japanese version.

I know that Super Metroid and Mario Paint are 100% the same in the US and Japanese versions, at least in terms of rom image. There are many that are close, but have some thing changed that are not obvious in game.
<Evan_G> i keep my games in an inaccessable crate where i can't play them

That very well could be the case. I just remember it being all in English, so of course I assumed.

You could also probably add a lot of shooters into this catergory. Most would only have text at the beginning and option screens, and a lot of menus for Japanese games are in English.
