    Default SCEA's 1st Generation Advertisements

    I vaguely remember the following:

A purple polygonal head that accompanied print ads for Battle Arena Toshinden. I think this mascot was called Enos.

The caption "URNOTe." Since the letter "e" was distinguished by the colour red, the caption was supposed to suggest that 'you're not ready.'

    ------

Was Enos actually featured in any games, or was he/she/it limited to SCEA's print ads? How long did SCEA stick with Enos?

i could be incredibly wrong, but i think he did play a role in a really early released puzzle type game, but then as mascot was pretty quickly replaced by crash bandicoot.

The purple head was called Polygonman, and there were plans for him to have his own game. He was never intended to be a mascot, though.

URNOTe was the first US campaign, I believe. In Japan, it was 1,2,3, Playstation, since the PSX came out on Dec. 3, 1994.

    Which means...happy 10th, Playstation!

Polygonman, huh? Why do I associate the name Enos with that character?

They tried to use that woman from Battle Arena Toshinden as a mascot for a while. No idea what her name was, but she had a whip or something.

Enos was also the word Sony spelled backwards....
It was supposed to have some mythical meaning to Sony being released the Ninth of September...

KJN: Those are the ads I remember Sony's early mascot from. Was Polygonman featured in ads for games other than Ridge Racer and Battle Arena Toshinden?

Enos was also the word Sony spelled backwards....

    "ENOS LIVES"

*reversing the letters respective to each word*

    "SONE SEVIL"

    Sony's evil?

Where's "lives" come from? Otherwise I'm tracking the concept, heh.

When somebody says "Polygonal head" and "PlayStation" I think of the announcer guy from Crypt Killer, heh.

I don't think so. If SCEA expected people to read one word backwards, why wouldn't they expect people to read the very next word in reverse as well? Mind you, I didn't read the entire ads backwards; I only focused on the general area where I was supposedly 'encouraged' to read words in reverse.
