    Default Nostalgia and age?

    Hi,

I am trying to see whehter a person age/birthdate can be used to predict a certain era of video gaming CONSOLE nostalgia.

For me, I was born in 1982 and i am most nostalgic of the Saturn/Playstation/N64 era, even though i was actively involed in gaming for the previous 3 generations.

So i want to hear from all of you to see when you were born and what era of gaming your are most fond of. I have attempted to break gaming consoles up into their generations so here goes.

    Xbox/Gamecube/PS2/GBA

    Saturn/PSone/N64/Dreamcast

    Jaguar/3do/CD32

    Genesis/SNES/TG16/Neo Geo/Cdi/Gameboy/16bit Computers

    Famicom/Sega Mark III/Master System/Atari 7800/8 bit Computers

    Atari 2600/Atari 5200/Pre 8bit

If anybody would like to make a suggestion about my console generations the please do. I think that this will be a very interesting experiment.

So if you could format your answers like...

    (year of birth)(console generation)

Once i get a few results then ill run a statistical analysis

    EDIT...

Woops! forgot to add the DC. I have added it to the PSOne era though. to me PS2 signalled the start of a new generation

It appears 3 years can make all the difference.

I was born in 1979, and I'm most nostalgic of the NES era myself.

I was born in 1978 and my nostalgic era is the NES era. It was the first console i owned, Sega wasn't relevant in my area. We talked about "playing Nintendo" and not "playing videogames".

Born in 1965. I have nostalgia for almost all of those eras. My FIRST gaming era from your list was the Atari one, but I spent as much time if not more in the 16-bit era. And currently of all the older systems I spend the most time with my Dreamcast. So I'm not sure where I fit in!

1975. I'm borderline Atari 2600 and NES. Got into the Atari 2600 in 1985, but actually got my own console in 1987. Soon afterwards, my best friend got a NES, so the logged hours on both consoles are pretty much the same.

1968. The 2600 first then the NES. That's console, my FIRST introduction to video games was the Coleco Electronic Quarterback. My friends and I all had those and other LED games long before any of us had a TV game console. Those things carry the most nostalgia for me.

Still have my original by the way.

Born in 1981 and my main nostalgia system is the NES. I had a 2600,but I don't remember it as fondly as the NES. It was also called "playing Nintendo" as opposed to "playing videogames" in my area.

I was born in 1970, and fondly remember the Great Console Wars of 1980!

It was all about what was the best, and who had playground bragging rights.

To simplify it for you young'uns:

The Atari 2600 was the PS2.

    The IntelliVision was the GameCube.

The ColecoVision was the Xbox (graphics powerhouse).

We all won. Including todays generation. You reap the benefits today.

    1989/1990.
I was still trying to beat Phantasy Star on SMS, just gotten my TurboGrafx-16 with Legendary Axe and Alien Crush, and was introduced to the Neo Geo in the arcades.
    My 3 favorite systems...
