    Default Gamer mags

I was wondering what everyones fav video game mags were.
And also what mags you subscribe to if any. What are your likes and dislikes about them are. Old and new of coarse, also so country specific like europe and asia and such. The above poll is for the ones you can pick up at your local grocery store and I'll go ahead and apologize for the many I will miss!

My favs are EGM, I have been reading them since I was a boy, Tips and Tricks mainly for the Collector's Closet articles, and Game Informer, they touch on older games in the review section.

EGM by far is my favorite. I read Tips 'n tricks for Joe's articles. Game Informer used to be one a read because it was local, but other the the old game info and reviews there isnt much else that mag is good for.

I liike Game Informer, and EGM---just because they give me just some quick snapshots of games that have been just released.

I get nearly all of them (free of charge) and for me personally now all the magazines blend into one another.

I'll go with Retro Gamer (subscription) as it's the only one I can get in this country (except the official PS and Xbox mags but they're just sycophantic shite!)!

I also subscribe to NOM (Nintendo Official Magazine) for the frebbies that come with it. They're also pretty critical of Nintendo which is refreshing! I buy Games and Edge every month and I sometimes pick up a copy of PC Gamer or the like.

I didn't vote on this because I no longer really have a favorite. For years, it was EGM...but they are so different now...arrogant, really, imo.

Mags I've got since I issue 1: EGM, Nintendo Power, Gamepro.

I may have missed a few EGMs, due to subsription problems they used to have back in the day. I really wished I saved my issue 1 of all of these. EGM #1 is increasingly rare now, though I used to see it everywhere when it came out.

I used to collect EGM. Then it changed into Stuff magazine for mainstream gamers, so I only buy Tips & Tricks for the Collector's Closet column.

BTW, does anybody have the T&T Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life and Madden 2005 issues for sale or trade?
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.

Retro Gamer got my vote, that's my second fave next to Play.
    Play should be an option.

Game Informer and EGM are my two favorites. I'm currently subscribed to GI, EGM, and GMR.

Definately T&T. (Subscribed) Joe's article hooked me with their mag.
I don't really care for any of the "Official" mags. like NP, OXM, OPM because you only get to ear about their consoles.

Game Informer isn't to bad but i find them unreliable and uncredible. No specific reason off the top of my head but if i tried to think i would remember the reason for this bias.
OXM tried to make me pay for a subscription that i never signed up to but they arn't a bad mag content wise.
OPM isn't that bad either with its content.
NP doesn't do much for me because i get so few current gen Nintendo games.
Game Pro and EGM i have yet to really read.
I did get some cool Sonic Adventure stickers out of EGM though.

    At this point, I'd say:

    GMR
    EGM
    Play

Two of those three aren't even on your list, so I didn't bother voting. But if I could, GMR would get the nod.

Like I wrote above the poll is mainly just for mags u can pick up at your local grocery store, What i meant by old and new is to tell what magazines you like and why.

also I've never heard of play, ehats that one like, is it like EGM and gamepro?

The only current mag I'd really bother with is Edge, although Retro Gamer and GamesTM would do for a long train journey or something.

Play is kinda what Next Gen used to be. But Play takes itself even more seriously. They really do treat games as an "art form". Some of their developer articles tend to be overkill though, which is why they have dropped from my favorite mag to my thrid favorite.

Everything about the mag reflects their opinion of games as art. The pages are glossy, the covers are usually spectacular and much artwork is featured throughout the mag. Some of it reguarly takes up two pages.

If you love games and view the medium as a type of art (even a little), you should really check it out.

EGM has taken a dive recently. The US currently has no mags worth buying on a monthly basis, though there are writers who I try to seek out. Edge isn't as good as back in the NextGen/Edge days, but it's definitely still worth a purchase (though at $10 US, it's tough to justify). RetroGamer is good, but also very expensive.

After the whole Paper Mario fiasco with Game Informer I have stopped reading their magazine. I like EGM.
Mostly just play Nintendo 64. If you've got games PM me! Cart only.

    Play.
Play is the best current national mag around. No doubt.

Play is kinda what Next Gen used to be. But Play takes itself even more seriously. They really do treat games as an "art form". Some of their developer articles tend to be overkill though, which is why they have dropped from my favorite mag to my thrid favorite.

I think the opinion that gaming is an art form is dead on. It's also good to have a magazine with clear opinions. It's refreshing. Every other mag seems to have a need to pander to mainstream audiences. It makes for a very boring read. They gotta eat i guess.

The developer articles are overkill, unless it's a developer that you like. For the most part I agree with you though.

It's funny that they take themselves so seriously. They are up to the third edition of "Girls In Gaming." A very serious subject for sure. Ha.
