Default Has anyone played GUNSTAR HEROES for the GAME GEAR?

I just got a Game Gear with 12 games and it's just like I remember it to be. I had my last Game Gear stolen a decade ago by a roommate and I haven't felt the desire to replace it until recently when I found one for a good price.

I've order the Shining Force game and the rest of what I have is pretty good, so I've only got one more Game Gear game to ponder...

Is Gunstar Heroes for the GG any good? Anyone played it? I can't find it on Ebay at the moment, but it should pop up at some point (there's a Panzer Dragoon Mini game on there now, but it's already too pricey.) I wonder if it anywhere near as speedy as the Genesis original.

    Anyone?

    Cheers

Emulated it. Looks great, but I can't tell what the hell is going on, if that makes any sense to you.

I emulated it as well, and from what I played of it, it's pretty damn close to the Genesis/MD version. Seems to be as fast as the Genny game too.

I emu'ed it as well. It's absolutely amazing. I couldn't belive the graphic quality, the tempo didn't suffer one bit either. I'm on the look out for this one as well so I'd appreciate knowing what you had to pay for a copy when/if you acquire one.

i have an actual cart, lol, and it's incredible.as treasure couldn't squeeze and exact port of the game on the gg, the dice palace stage is clipped, and there are a few other trims, but overall this is one game worth tracking down. expect to pay a hell of a lot of money for the game, as it's not exactly easy to track down.

If that copy of Panzer is already too expensive at £26, then you can probably forget about this one - it would almost certainly sell for a lot more than that if/when it next appears.

Which copy of Panzer? Wait, I'm confused, but I think I know what's going on. Maybe.

Panzer on the Game Gear? I know there's some handheld version out there. Thanks though, you just made me realize what he's saying. @ me

yup, pd mini is defintely cool, although it's geared squarely at a younger audience. someone not too busy should post a cover scan here (i'd bet one appears withing five posts )...

Now over $50 (us dollars, reserve not met yet ) with a buy it now of $300... too rich for my blood, especially a Space Harrier-esque shooter for the kiddies. One of the last games for the GG I do believe when the Game Gear became the "Kids Gear" in Japan

    Cheers

The KIDS GEAR? Haha, now I've seen everything.

All I can say is the GG version of Gunstar Heroes is incredible. I played it through (once again) no more than three days back and i just can't believe it's running on what is basically a Master System.

Sure, there are some mods to the stages, boss patterns and handling (start button doubles as weapon select and pause) as mentioned but the frantic pace and excellent music is still there.

It has carried over some of the critizised bits from the original, like it's a bit short, the homing weapon isn't that well balanced and the free/fixed shot thing but these are really minor gripes on a smashing game. I can see it only going up on terms of value so grab it while you can.

*sigh* If only the Brazilian SMS version did exist instead of (almost certainly) being the invention of some tricky Photoshop bastard

Amen to that! I bid on one of those phony games on Ebay a while back and then watched as the price grew to insane levels. Too bad it was fake (I hope!) It would have made a great Master System game! Just re-do the colors to fit Master System specs and voila'... the coolest Tec Toy game ever. Even better than Duken Nukem!

I am now on a mission to find the GG game. Loose or complete... doesn't matter.

    Cheers

Knowing TecToy, they wouldn't have fixed the colors and it would look a bit washed out.

I had GG Gunstar Heroes for a while (bootleg one) and it was quite good. Nearly perfect port. I myself have been looking for Panzer Dragoon Mini but the price has been crazy as hell on it for the last couple years.
